I'm a chef, living and working here in New York. I've been here, in the city for my entire life, I can give you great suggestions on where to hang out, eat, shop, and walk around. Just ask!

Another fabulous stay at Emma's little slice of paradise in Manhattan! I've come to consider it my home away from home after only two visits, which definitely speaks to Emma's amazing hosting skills. Great apartment, gracious host, unbeatable location ... you really can't do better.
By the way, Emma's not kidding when she calls her place an oasis! On May 1st, as the Occupy protests were raging full force just around the corner, I sat on the patio enjoying a Prosecco and the peal of bells from nearby Grace Church. Bliss!
Location is definitely great. The appartment is spacious and the bed is comfortable. Pole Dancing in the living room is a great feature. Emma was in San Francisco during our stay, so she had a friend bring us the key. The problem was we only had one set of keys for two people with different schedules, what made our first days somewhat difficult. We even thought about moving to a hotel, but she managed to get us another copy, even though we only got one elevator key, what sometimes made me climb 5 floors of stairs. The appartment was not as clean as it should be and the housekeeper does not clean the patio (at least not during our stay, she did not). Overall, I would recommend the stay at Emma's appartment, specially if she gives more attention to these issues.
I'll set the background. We are a mature Irish couple visiting New York for the 1st time. Also 1st time to use Airbnb. I will try and keep my review to the point. Location was absolutely fab, walked most places every day. Extremely homely atmosphere in Emma's flat. Photos very accurate. We felt very secure which is important to us. Competitively priced. Host dealt with any queries immediately. Emma left ample food for a hearty breakfast which was a bonus. Supermarket just around the corner. Bed very comfortable. Clean accommodation. Cleaner visited while we were there. For us the location was a major bonus. We never used the underground. For the shoppers, we walked to Macy's in about 20 mins. Would we stay again. Definitely. Thanks Emma
I must say that the house is very nice and hospitable.
Emma made us feel like we were at our house.
The house is very cozy and Emma is an excellent hostess.
The area in which it is strategic, because it is in a location served by the metro just around the corner and the locals there.
Definitely would stay there again.
Emma was a great host! She was a breeze to make plans with and all around generous—she even helped with a dinner reservation! Her apartment is a gem. A private garden (equipped with a grill and smoker!), and a huge kitchen are practically unheard of in Union Square. She could not live in a better location. Also, I left wanting to paint my bedroom walls the same cheerful shade of yellow.
WOW! I don't know if I should rave about my gracious host, Emma, or her amazing apartment first, and could blather endless compliments for each ... both were *unbelievably* welcoming. Short review: Just take my advice and STAY HERE.
Emma was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating. She responded to my inquiry almost instantly, was flexible with check-in, personally greeted me at the apartment and had assembled a lovely welcome basket of goodies for my arrival. She also really helped me out of a horrific bind that threatened to ruin my trip so I can't begin to thank her enough.
The enormous, comfortable apartment is exactly as advertised and located in one of the best locations imaginable. I'd move in permanently if it were possible but, barring that, will book this place for all my jaunts to NYC.
This is the perfect spot to establish camp during your visit and wonderful to return to after a hectic day -- the private outdoor space is ideal for unwinding. Or entertaining. Or anything, really, because it is a little slice of serenity in the middle of one of the world's most bustling cities.
If you like to cook, you'll revel in the full-size kitchen, amazing collection of cookbooks and proximity to the Union Square Greenmarket. If you're less ambitious, just walk out the door and into any of the tempting eateries in the neighborhood or grab a prepared meal at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's nearby. Either way, yum!
Culinary inclinations or not, everyone will appreciate wrapping up in the decadently fluffy towels after one of best showers you're likely to find in the city (I am obsessive about water pressure!) or tucking in under the luxurious bed linens at the end of the day. Bliss....
Don't hesitate in booking with Emma -- unless I'm going to be in town, of course, because I can't imagine staying anywhere else!
