House was clean and location can't get any better. Construction going on next door lasted from 6 am till 6 om EVERY day but sunday. we were not warned although it looked as if it had been going on for a few weeks at least. Not very well equipped but a huge backyard and front yard was perfect. I wouldn't go back with a group of more than four
All information and instructions were accurate, and everything in the house worked fine. The host was extremely responsive, quickly answering any questions. The house is marvelously close to the beach: ~200 steps from the front porch to the sand. It also was nice being just a little bit away from the main hub, as the beach was quieter on the stretch that is closest to the house -- but everything is still very easy walking distance. The outside of the house is very nice, with a great front and back yard for relaxing.
There were only two real drawbacks, and the first is temporary: There was construction going on next door when I was there (May, 2014), so workers were hard at it promptly at 7 am on the weekdays. I'm sure this will not go on for long. Most disappointingly, the house was very cheaply furnished, with the exception of the comfortable beds: extremely cheap plastic lamps in every room, plastic coffee tables and end tables, uncomfortable living room furniture, bare walls, etc. There was no curling up on a couch at night -- just two uncomfortable futons in the living room, plus one chair that was reasonably ok.
Overall, I had a great time, I loved Carlsbad, loved the beach, loved the restaurants, loved the vibe, loved sitting in the front yard. Only the house furnishings were a real disappointment.

We really enjoyed our stay in Carslbad visiting our Marine son at Camp Pendleton. We have some pros and cons for the bungalow we rented. PROS: Very close to the beautiful beach; provided an outdoor chimney we used and enjoyed, comfortable beds, adequate seating and sleeping for four people. CONS: the place looks incomplete (kind of stark) and seemed to be a work in progress; no dressers in the bedrooms, which would have been nice for our clothes since we were staying for a week; no duvet covers for the lightweight duvet inserts used for the pullout beds in the living room. We loved the location and would probably rent this bungalow again.
