I am an artist and cultural worker.
Beautiful spot, great space, short walk to downtown strip and Victoria Park. Didn't get a chance to meet Anthea face-to-face, but was well taken care of by here none-the-less. She was lovely on the phone and gave so much helpful info via e-mail I felt like I had a local there with me. The owners of this property are welcoming and helpful as well. I would highly recommend this space to anyone looking for an escape from the mundane urban environment but still wanting convenient access to it.
Coming to London? Give this place a try!
My partner and I are so grateful to Anthea! We wrote her in a panic looking for somewhere to stay and she was very accommodating in not only answering all of our questions and approving our reservation quickly and flexibly, but in seeing that we had everything we needed and more for the duration of our visit.
The space was a charming, sunny home that was spacious and wonderfully open-concept, but it still felt warm and inviting in a pleasantly quirky way, and it was absolutely conducive to my writing (important). I loved the retro kitsch touches and shelf upon shelf of great books. Drinking morning tea outside nestled in the garden was a real treat, and waking up to birdsong every morning was magic. The neighbourhood is lovely and central enough to quickly and easily get downtown (walking) or to the university (near a direct bus route).
Anthea is a very sweet, cool woman for whom I can do nothing but sing praises. You will love your time here!
A lovely warm and welcoming space in the snowy cold of London. I appreciated the proximity of "Forest House" to the grocery store, the bus line, a sweet breakfast cafe, and also its distance from the busy stretch of Richmond Street. Anthea and Jamelie are wonderful hosts who anticipate any needs and are generous with time and suggestions. I will always stay here in London.
I had a great time during my stay with Anthea. I was in town to do some (email hidden), and it was really easy to travel between the university and Anthea's place. I also had a lot of work to do in the evenings, and despite the fact that we were sharing the space, it was possible to work quietly. She was very considerate, had good suggestions for food, and she made me try some of her amazing chicken soup!
Anthea was a very gracious & generous host. Beautiful surroundings, beautiful people and a great location. I definitely hope to stay there again if and whenever returning to the area. She made me feel very comfortable the minute I walked in the door. Thank you!
My stay with Anthea at her Artist's retreat was just right. Off-the-beaten track (literally), this artist space offers a quiet and respectable alternative to staying near the University. I was in town for a conference, and had no trouble navigating between the train station, Anthea's place, and the University by public transit. The space itself is in a converted barn-like structure, and was clean and comfortable for a 1 night stay. Anthea (email hidden), and was very respectful of personal boundaries, etc. I highly recommend staying here- it will show you a different side of London.
Anthea surprised her friend from Toronto with an evening in the Treehouse. So great to see this moment unfold. Bravo, Anthea! They were excellent guests. Good communication and they so appreciative of the experience. Quite tidy as well.
Anthea was a lovely guest! I was doing some reorganizing of the guest room when she arrived, and she was extremely kind and flexible. She was also great at communicating her plans about arrival, etc., before she stayed which was I really appreciated. I would gladly host her again!
Lovely, lovely, lovely... welcomed back any time. Anthea is very friendly, personable, conscientious, .... and welp, just the ideal guest to have.
I have known Anthea for over 10 years, and can certify that she is a fabulous hostess. As well as being friends, we have worked and traveled together on a number of occasions and always had lots of fun. She is organized, friendly, and always prepared with yummy snacks and helpful travel tips!
