In fact I did not complain about the missing key and missing guidebook, since their absence was not Genevieve's fault, although I think it is inconvenient for a lodging to have only a single key. We moved all of our gear out when we were out of the room because the door could not be locked, but didn't mind this since we had only a couple of bags. We vacated the premises and walked to a friend's house before the check-out time, leaving our car parked on the street. When we returned, we asked the owner if we could use the bathroom, and understood when she refused. We did find it strange that an incorrect address was provided at the time of the booking (which we later mentioned to Genevieve), and we had driven by before the check-in time only to make sure we could locate the property. We encountered the previous night's guests as they were leaving and asked them about the location. After our visit, Genevieve texted me prior to the public posting of my review and offered to provide a positive review if I had given the property a positive review. I did not respond, so it appears Genevieve is punishing me with her negative review. Other guests can make their own judgments as to whether this is a congenial environment for a pleasant visit.
