We're both academics and recent empty nesters. We love our quiet neighborhood on the Mesa.
Chris cycles and Cheri walks and goes to yoga. We look forward to introducing guests to the area and then leaving you free to explore while you're here.

This was our very first Airbnb experience. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay in Santa Barbara. La Casita was cozy, clean and private. Chris and Cheri made access to the property very easy and left clear instructions for our stay and helpful tourist information. Access to a more "remote" stretch of beach was in walking distance (10-15 min) and getting back and forth to the center of town by car was very easy. All in all, it was a very good way to begin with Airbnb.
This is an adorable little guest house that was very well maintained. We came here to do some wine tasting and used the Casita as a home base Valentines weekend. Chris and Cheri are very kind and accommodating. The surrounding area was beautiful as well! Thank you for letting us stay!
My wife and I stayed an extended weekend at La Casita and it was amazing.
Chris and Cheri are great hosts, very communicative and responsive. The internet wasn't working the first night, but by the second day Chris had it up and running... They were very flexible with us, welcoming and informative.
The neighborhood is fantastic, walkable with fruit trees on every corner. The beach is a short walk away and there's amazing views of the ocean at every turn. We spent our sunsets on the beach, and the days exploring Santa Barbara, from the mountains, into the Santa Ynez Valley, and all around Goleta, everything easily accessible to this cozy place to lay our heads.
The beds were cozy, we took a nap or two on the day bed!
We highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet escape!
We enjoyed the cottage
Great location great views on walks to the beach
La Casita is a charming cottage! it is clean, tastefully decorated, and wonderfully quite. Our hosts were friendly yet respectful of our busy schedule.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend La Casita to friends and family.
La casita at the beach was the perfect getaway for our family while visiting Santa Barbara. The cottage is very clean, comfy and spacious and it was located in an awesome neighborhood- walking distance to the beach and an open space preserve as well as coffee shops/restaurants. Chris and Cheri were very gracious hosts and were very prompt with communications. We will definitely stay here again when we visit next!
The house was perfect - relatively close to the beach and immaculately clean! Beds were very comfortable. Chris and Cheri were nice and very hospitable.
Chris & Cheri were very kind and the place was nice and in the perfect location for what we needed. We will definitely be back!
This is a wonderful place to stay. The casita is on a quiet street and it is a an easy walk to the ocean and local shops. Highly recommend.
Chris and Cheri offer a wonderful little spot in a fabulous location! We stayed for three nights (two adult women and two teenage girls). You can walk, run or bike to the beach, the wharf and other beautiful sites. There are some eateries and a great grocery store nearby. La Casita very comfortable and quiet and we would recommend Chris and Cheri's place if you want a nice place to hang your hat while you enjoy Santa Barbara!
Chris, Cheri and family were exceptional guests! They were friendly, quiet--and I believe they left the place cleaner than they found it!
I've known Chris and Cheri for over a decade and they are some of the finest people I know. As leaders of numerous abroad study tours in Europe, they know how important it is to arrive at a welcoming place to rest your head, heart and mind. Come enjoy their down-to-earth hospitality!
Cheri and Chris are some of the kindest, wisest, and most trustworthy people I know. They are open-minded, engaging, and thoughtful individuals whose love of travel and travelers is reflected in their dedication to cross-cultural communications--between the two of them they can converse in German, Spanish, and French (and English). Their beautiful home is tucked away on the Mesa of Santa Barbara, a 5 minute walk to one of the most stunning views along the Central Coast. You can walk or bike to Santa Barbara's downtown area, or head in the other direction to Hendry's Beach. I would highly recommend staying in their casita next time you are in the area--I know I will.
