I live in Austin with my amazing son, Sam. Never happier than when I'm hanging out with him, seeing friends, or making and seeing theater. Coming up on 20 years in Austin. I love it here and love introducing new people to its charms.

If you are looking for a cute, convenient place to stay in Austin, this is it. This repurposed shed is now a great space for two who want to be close to Barton Springs, South Lamar and downtown Austin. Bikes were even provided!
FYI - the windows are great to let in the sun, but if you're not an early riser, bring an eye mask.
Steve was an excellent host and his place is lovely. It was clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything I could need or want. I highly recommend staying here to anyone headed to Austin!
Steve and the cottage were AMAZING!
I had a later flight and he was responsive and absolutely fantastic. Took a quick cab from the airport, he met me at the door.
The place itself is fantastic. Quick to downtown, super safe and cute neighborhood. Fridge had great coffee and beer, bed was super comfy and everything was very clean. Totally staying there next year for SXSWedu again!
We had a great time staying in Steve's cottage! We kept commenting on what a clever design the space had. Little lights, just where you would need them, sliding doors to conserve space, and and a well-planned layout made it a very smart little space for us to stay in. He knew exactly what we would need. He even had a humidifier set up for us (which we actually used). His home and cottage are located in a great area of Austin! It was so close to all the things in downtown that we needed to get to. We had a great experience staying there!
Steve was very quick to reply all my texts. He was also a welcoming host and sent me a text to check on how I was doing and if there was anything else he could help me with. I really appreciated it and thought it was really thoughtful of him. The cottage was the perfect size for me and had everything I needed. It was also very nicely designed.
We had the greatest time in Steve's little nest of a backyard cottage! The amount of minute care and thinking Steve has put into the room's conception and supplies is truly amazing: there is literally everything you would think you'd need and had forgotten, and definitely so much more! Slam dunk on a lovely Zilker hideaway. Finally, we had a very nice dinner on Steve's - excellent - advice.
Steve's cottage was absolutely charming, and just what we hoped it would be. Quiet location, lots of sunlight, and just the right amount of space for two. Steve was a great host- always letting us know he was available if we needed anything but being totally unobtrusive. A really great stay!
We really enjoyed our trip to Austin! Steve was easy to communicate with and left us clear directions on how to get into his place! We really enjoyed the little cottage and loved going on morning bike rides. There were several nice touches and we would stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It's the perfect size for two, the location was great, and Steve made us feel right at home. He was extremely responsive to any questions we had, and we appreciated his flexibility in checking in and out of the space. Overall, it was a great experience.
We loved our stay at Steve's cottage. Very bright and sunny space, great location. Steve was happy to help with recommendations.
Steve brought his son here to start college at RPI and enjoyed the short walking distance back & forth to campus for orientation activities as he turned in his rental car the 2nd day. He asked where to eat and I got to show him one of Troy's hidden gems: DeFazio's Pizza in So. Troy where we shared their homemade pesto pizza from their wood-fired oven. Steve is courteous, neat respectful & great company!
We especially enjoyed long conversations on a Hudson
River Row to waterfalls up the Mohawk R. with a Prof. From RPI & his visiting colleague from U. C. Davis
that stayed at my Room w/Riverview listing. Steve was my 1st guest to take advantage of my standing offer to take guests out on the River & it was really fun.
Steve and his son Sam arrived after more than a week on the bike in the Netherlands. Tired and pale but with a great experience I think. A very nice and very sympathetic father and son on an exciting holiday. It was great to meet them and to have them as our guests. It was good communicating with them. I wouldn't doubt for a second to be their host again! Hope to see them in the future again!
Steve and his son visited us during a cycle tour through the Nethelands. Communication was clear and very friendly. They left the guesthouse in a very neat state. I would certainly recommend them as guests.
Did not meet Steve personally, but communication went perfect & my house was left very neat!
Steve and Sam, father and son, spent 3 days of their trip trough Holland in our place. We enjoyed their company and the quality time they had with eachother.
Friendly and modest. Wish them all the best and our house will always be yours.
I had the pleasure of hosting Steve and Sam for the few days they were in Amsterdam, leading up to their cycling tour around the Netherlands. They're both lovely guys that are fun to chat to and took very good care of my place. Great to see such a great father and son bond also. Thanks again guys!
It was a complete pleasure to meet and host Steve. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with him and learning about his life in Austin. He was here for a short vacation and to visit friends. He's a great guest, fun to talk with, very considerate, clean and quiet. I highly recommend him.
Steve was the ideal guest - friendly, quiet, and clean. His son is also polite and friendly. We got to chat a bit and they are both genuine, nice people you can trust with your keys. Steve would also make a great host if / when he decides to host! :)
Steve was our first AirBnB guest and was so great we're looking forward to hosting more folks. Steve was a very kind and easy-going guest and left the room very orderly. He is welcome back at our place any time.
Steve is such a gem of a Man. Generous, hospitable, and incredibly interesting. Years ago, my wife Erin and I had the privilege of staying in this cottage when it was a private guest room and it remains one of our fondest memories of Austin. It's so close to the things we love, like swimming, eating, antiquing, and then more swimming, eating... Come here. Stay here. Enjoy great conversation with Steve and Sam. Fall in love with this fine, fine town from this cozy nest.
Steve is the real deal. Completely authentic, caring, and generous. I stayed in the cottage a number of years ago when he was first getting it set up and it was perfectly cozy. So many artists have stayed there over the years, I'd be surprised if you didn't find yourself coming up with awesome new ideas in your sleep.
Steve is one of my oldest and dearest friends in Austin (I think I'm the the arm you see in his profile pic!) The cottage is a super cozy and delightful spot - totally separate from his house so you've got a nice space apart. Steve and I have been collaborators for years as well, and I can attest to his proactive and clear communication. Super on top of things and super easy to deal with on business matters. This bungalow is in one of the sweetest neighborhoods in Austin and gives you that feeling like you could just hide out there and write the Great American Novel or something :) This is one of the good ones.
Steve is a dear pal and a warm and welcoming host. I just returned from a visit to Austin and stayed in the fully-equipped cottage -- it's got everything you could need! I always enjoy my time in Austin immensely and couldn't have asked for a better spot to rest my head.
I've known Steve for almost twenty years, and I've stayed in the cottage many times, so I could go on and on, but I will simply say that Steve is the best. And his cottage is my dreamhouse. The only problem you might run into if you stay there is that you won't ever want to leave.
Steve is the best friend anyone in Austin ever had. He's funny, kind and dependable. He actually checks in on you if he hasn't seen you in awhile! He thinks of friendship is an activity, rather than just a kind feeling that doesn't compel you to do anything. And his cottage is amazing. I have stayed in it several times, when moving between homes or phases of my life! I wrote some of my best plays in there. Quiet, beautiful, designed for comfort.
Steve is a wonderful and generous friend. We have been friends for so many years I have lost count. As friends and artistic collaborators I have no doubt that Steve will always be there for me. Most recently it was to let me stay in his charming cottage for a few nights. You can't find a better place, It's peaceful, inviting, clean, and cozy. And in the perfect neighborhood. He is also a gracious host, helpful if you need it and completely out of your hair if you don't!
Generous, thoughtful, attentive, capable, and kind. Five traits unusual in any one person come together in one hell of a human being and amazing friend. I've stayed in Steve's backyard cottage many times over the years, a quiet and cozy little place, perfect for writing retreats or intimate getaways. As a host, he's ideal: there when you need him and gone when you don't. Glad to count him a lifelong friend.
Steve is one of my favorite people on earth, and exactly the kind of person I would hope to find as an Airbnb host: kind and generous and trustworthy and responsible and reliable and easy-going. And I've spent a cumulative several weeks in the cottage behind his house and can attest to its being a wonderful place to stay. It's comfortable, quiet, clean, shaded by live oak trees, and in located a fantastic neighborhood.
Steve is a wonderful renter and all around swell guy! He left our place just as clean as we left it for him and he's a wonderful host if you are thinking of staying at his own casa!
