Listing was as described and pictured. Fun and neat space, located in Green Point. About 30-40mins to the city, and easily connected to the subway line. I enjoyed exploring Green Point as well as going into the city.
The spot does what it say's on the tin. Lawrence was very helpful, met me to get me up to the right floor with the service elevator (otherwise off-limits), and he was always available as and when I had the odd question after my arrival, even though i didn't actually see him again. Greenpoint itself is a great little area and i recommend getting on the citibikes to get out and about. Faster than the metro and healthy to boot.
If you want peace and quiet this may not be right for you tho - a lot of lifht comes in through the windows and altho nothing too loud went down there's the inevitable sounds of a group of people living together. No complaints at all though. Thankyou Lawrence.
The host is a really nice guy.
I was treated well. The neighbourhood is amazing. The best part of this appt. is THE ROOF with a magnificent view of Manhattan.
Great place to stay, quiet negbourhood very nice time spent
David was a great host! The Appartement was awesome, especially the view from the roof. Everything we needed was in the Appartement.
The location is perfect... Easy subway access and fun walks. Good overall communication with the host. Had a situation with the toilet not working properly, hopefully it will get fixed for future guests. Unfortunately the bathroom snafu led to a mediocre rating from me.
The place was great! Very nice and clean. Very easy check in and Lawrence was nice enough to let me have a late check in. I had a great stay in NY and would definitely recommend this place for an affordable and quality spot.
Lawrence was a real lifesaver for us. A reservation had fallen through 48 hours before our flight and I needed help! Lawrence was extremely responsive and easy to organise last minute details with. So far as hosts go in terms of being organised and responsive, he was everything we needed in a time when stress levels were high. The apartment was as pictured. It felt safe and felt (to this foreigner) like a true local experience of living in a budget pre-war walk up with shower and toilet plumbing added. The area is really interesting and I loved walking around Greenpoint - there's lots of options for food and fun, and while being close to Manhattan, has its own vibe. In terms of New York accommodation pricing, it was good value for money, with a professional host.
Overall very good. The apartment was cool and quirky. The building itself looks a bit run down but that all works for the overall style of the place. The apartment was on the fourth floor, we had big heavy bags with us. David kindly operated the freight elevator for us, don't try it yourself. Having such big bags was a little bit of a problem since there wasn't a huge amount of space in the apartment for them. The bed and slide were super fun, and the overall space was nice. Current renovations have all residents in the apartment using the one bathroom which was a bit annoying since there was no proper locks and had two doors (but a new bathroom is being built so I guess for future guests you should be okay!). The apartment is in a great neighbourhood, totally accessible by the G line and close to Manhattan via the G & E lines. The best thing about the apartment though is the rooftop view. It offers a spectacular view of uptown Manhattan at any point of the day. All in all an enjoyable stay.
David est vraiment super sympa (pour infos, nous étions super en retard, et il a attendu notre arrivé très tardive....), Un appartement impeccable, sympa, propre, et pratique.
Bref je recommande.
Lawrence is a great guy. Fun, funny and a gentleman. He's very easygoing, knowledgeable about the city, and his place is certainly unique, as others have commented. I'd recommend staying with him, he's very accommodating! I ended up staying for more than 2 months in total!!
This is a fantastic apartment! Not only is area full of hip stores and restaurants, Lawrence is helpful and friendly from the moment you book a room. He makes sure you have clear directions to the neighborhood and is ready to give you advice on things to do and directions around town. Oh yes, the rooftop view is NOT to be missed!
Love to visit New York as often as I can, when there I always stay at this modern greenpoint location. the neighborhood is becoming very hip and you can also get to manhattan very quickly. the price to stay is so reasonable and lawrence is an amazing chef, if he is not too busy to cook for you. thanks for the memories. love you, babe.
Lawrence is a creative artist with an eye for finding beauty in the mundane. He is an amazing entertainer. It is easy to have fun when Lawrence is around. He is a great storyteller can always make you laugh. He is loyal to his family and friends. You can always count on Lawrence to stick up for you.
I loved staying with Lawrence. The loft is comfortable with a beautiful view of the city, and of course Lawrence is a wonderful host - attentive, generous, and welcoming - as well as a fantastic cook!
Lawrence is a friend and a neighbor--I'm lucky to live down the hall from him! He is great to talk to about everything--movies, art, music, and a good source of information and interesting stories. I know from experience that he is a charming host!
Lawrence is a great host, and a funny, engaging, and generous friend. He made me great coffee AND fixed my computer the last time I stayed with him.
