The little cottage was welcoming, cozy, and comfortable. I was all stressed out and very much in need of a break and this was perfect. It's quiet, there's wifi, there's Netflix, a little mini kitchen, and a very nice bathroom. I stayed for almost a week and loved every minute. I had all the privacy I needed - Jamie left me alone unless I went to talk to her. And the dogs are adorable - they all came outside to say goodbye to me when I left.
Response from Jamie:
The dogs miss you Natalie! We loved having you. Come BACK!
Perfect lovely cozy and sweet!
Jaime and her husband were extremely welcoming, friendly, and laid-back -- and the cottage was cozy, comfy, and sweet. The sunny patio was a great place to read and just breathe. Recommended!
My wife and I stayed at the Casa al Mare for only two nights but it was a wonderful time. The bed was possibly the most comfortable that I have ever slept on. Jamie was welcoming and helpful, and easy to reach when we had questions. The apartment was thoughtfully stocked, I don't think we wanted for anything the whole time. We would definitely stay her again if we were visiting the area.
Jamie was a warm host but not intrusive. The house was beautifully decorated and had all the amenities. The neighborhood is safe and quiet -- it's near downtown and the beach. We found staying at Casa al Mare to be a positive experience.
I had a positive experience staying at this place! Jamie and Billy were great hosts -- super welcoming, fun to talk to, and responsive. I'm a dog lover and they have 5 dogs! I had to keep myself from procrastinating and going out to play with them when they ran out to the backyard a couple times.
I wanted to get away for a bit to get some writing done and was able to do so in this house. I felt like I was out in nature by a waterfall somewhere. Though it's in their backyard, they've crafted it in such a way that it doesn't feel like it at all. In front of the guest house is a large grassy area, a tree with pretty flowers hanging from it, and several string lighting. On the side of the guest house is a homemade crafted pond with water streaming, lots of plants, and a seating/patio area. (I'm told there will be a new deck soon!) Jamie has great taste in interior decor and repurposing and it definitely shows inside the house!
The house is stocked with the essentials such as a mini fridge, a microwave, a Keurig, cups/dishes and more. (tip: you can use the Keurig for hot water.) The bed is super comfy! But don't stay in it all day, the beach is a little over a mile away (Take Seaward all the way down to the beach for the sunrise and sunset! Or stop over at Surfer's Point to watch dawn/sunrise and surfers)
You'll have to see and experience the rest for yourself :]
This cottage is like staying in an apartment therapy photoshoot. It is obvious how much love and attention to detail Jamie has poured into making this retreat unforgettable. We flew into LA with a few days to decompress before a slew of family holiday visits - and this cottage did just that. Enjoyed restful sleep, quiet evenings, and access to beach town Ventura as well as LA in under an hour. The cottage is perfect for two and even has it's own patio area (perfect for AM coffee and reading) and private entrance. We didn't want to leave. Jamie is a phenomenal host and extremely responsive - she made sure we felt right at home and is ready with recommendations for anything you can think of. We will definitely be booking with her again!
Response from Jamie:
Thank you Asta for your kind review! We LOVED having you here. Billy and I are so grateful to have the PERFECT guest for our first official booking. You are welcome back any time!
Jamie is gracious and funny and a helluva great cook! Her guest cottage is charming, and the area is perfect for travelers to our beautiful city of Ventura. Near the beaches, and a bustling, quirky art scene, great music venues, and only an hour away from Santa Barbara. You would have a wonderful time!!
I’ve known Jamie for years. I’ve stayed in the cottage before she started using it as a guest cottage. There is so much charm, warmth and magic there, I never wanted to leave. And if you love amazing Italian cooking Jamie is the best. Imagine the sun starting to set, the Ventura chill setting in, and suddenly getting a whiff of a homemade soup with crusty Italian bread. If it's your first time or your 50th, you will never be just a guest, you'll be family.
Heaven in Ventura!
