Awesome location, across from Kits Beach in a charming 1940's style suite. Really enjoyed staying here.
So first, the good. The home was very comfortable, clean, spacious, and had plenty of essentials. As a parent, I also very much appreciated the child-proofing, roomful of toys, and backyard! The location is fantastic - right on Granville, super accessible to downtown, the Broadway area, Richmond, everything. The neighborhood is very nice, you're surrounded by million dollar homes, so it's very quiet and feels safe.
Lexi was an excellent host - she provided great instructions and directions, and she was very accessible the one time we needed to contact her. I'm very thankful for that.
I would only add one small thing, which is to temper expectations before going in. This is someone's home, and it does feel lived-in. The photos are staged beautifully, and if you go in expecting the Ritz you'll be a bit disappointed, so just expect to live in someone's (very comfortable) home.
We were deeply dissatisfied with the state of this rental. Lexi instructed us to lie to other tenants in the apartment building if they asked if we were staying there through airbnb - she wanted us to lie and say we were her cousins from Texas. We never actually met Lexi in person, though she originally had asked us to let her know when we were arriving so that she could meet us at the property, we had to pick up the keys from a third location. The City of Vancouver Zoning and Development Bylaw 10.21.6 states, "No person shall use or permit to be used any dwelling unit for a period of less than one month unless such unit forms part of a hotel or is used for bed and breakfast accommodation." - which explains her request, it seems that she was running an illegal boarding house according to zoning laws. The hallway smell incredibly strongly of cat urine, the apartment, of cleaning chemicals. It was also extremely hot in the property, 80 degrees or higher with the windows open, lots of noise from foot traffic and no air circulation or fans in the room. When I sat down on the bed, the bed slats underneath fell to the floor - the bed was too small to be supported by the bed frame, so the only support the bed had were the wooden beams on the bottom, which were not stable and continued to fall through the frame if anybody moved on the bed - we were afraid to sleep on it if it could collapse in the middle of the night. Lexi's solution was for us to put the mattress on the floor and sleep on the floor since she was out of town. When we told her that this was unsuitable and we made other arrangements for accommodations, she said that she understood and said she would contact airbnb. She asked if we wouldn’t mind dropping the keys off where we picked them up from, which meant a 30 minute bus ride from the property. She led us to believe, since she was contacting airbnb, that she was going to offer a refund, and so we were willing to go out of our way and be helpful by returning the keys. We waited several days and hadn’t heard from Lexi except for on Monday when she asked if we had dropped the keys off, so on Thursday, we contacted her - she wasn’t going to process the refund at all for us. We tried to see if we could negotiate even a partial refund, but she was unwilling. Even if she would have fixed the bed the next day, that was still 20% of our stay sleeping on the floor, not to mention having to deal with all of the other problems. Instead, she referred us to airbnb arbitration, then proceeded to ignore our request. This location was not worth the $200 per night given the above...
We felt the house was comfortable but was abit run down (ie flooring and curtains). It would have been useful if some of the windows had mosquito nets and only wished we knew ahead of time we had neighbors downstairs in the basement. Otherwise, an excellent location, beds were comfortable, clean toilets and an overall good stay.
Beautiful home with nice vintage touches. Best of all? Amazing location with walking access to the beach and food/drink. Thanks Lexi!
Lexi came to meet us with her lovely dog at the property. The accommodations are as expected. It is a older building so do not expect a lot of modern amenities like a bathroom fan but it is a nice touch to be in a well maintained and renovated heritage building. It is right next to the beach but is on the semi-excavated ground floor facing a side street. Also be wary of the peak season premium. I must have missed that and the price was double what I thought.
Departure was a little unusual as I was asked to leave the key at an address quite far away on my back to the airport.
Lexi was super flexible and made our arrival and departure easy. She was quick to respond to questions. The place is just really lovely -- clean, with super comfortable bedding and bed, and the place has a great vibe. It's superbly located for the beach, kits shopping and buses. Thank you Lexi!
Thank you Lexi. Had a great stay at your place. Great location and in close proximity to downtown. Safe area.
Beautfiul house. Very warm. Nice garden. Everthing was well prepared. I just can recommend Lexis Home.
I had a very lovely stay at Lexi's Beachfront Character apartment. The space was beautiful, clean, and a wonderful location across from Kits pool and beach. The bed was extremely cozy and the apartment was beautifully furnished. There were even fresh flowers! Lexi was a great host and very accommodating.
