Last year I retired from my corporate job to become a full time farmer. I now spend 60 hours a week, 10 months a year, working outdoors in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Formerly, I worked for a small consulting firm called Great Place to Work where I produced the 100 Best Companies to Work For list, published in FORTUNE magazine. I loved my work because it was so positive and aspirational, but my long commute and desires to spend less time online, and more time outdoors, necessitated my latest transition.
My farmer boyfriend and I love tending to vineyards, finding great wines, or great pieces of soil where great grapes could grow, and hiking in the wonderful parks in the Napa Valley. Both Doug and I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. We love watching movies, particularly quirky comedies. We are generally very happy people and inclined to like everything and everyone, though we do appreciate spaces that are clean and tidy and room mates that are helpful and respectful. We believe no meal is so tasty as a home cooked meal made with love. We love learning about other people's traditions and religions and political views and are just generally curious about life. Though our farm life keeps us home for 10 months (or longer!) each year, we love to travel, or to have travelers come to us!
We are thrilled to be hosting guests at our new bed and breakfast, House on a Hill. We are also planning our latest overseas adventure with the wonderful hosts on AirBnb.
