Hello everyone. I'm Easy Going Open Minded Creole Gentleman that loves guests and his Town. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Five stars is not enough to do this accommodation justice. Our stay at Roberts' was simply fabulous. The house, that lies in charming neighborhood Bywater with restaurants and coffeeshops, is even more beautiful than in the pictures. We could park right at the front door.
When we arrived we were received by Ernie, who takes care of the house, who showed us around. The house had fresh flowers in every room and the fridges were filled with complementary beverages and snacks. On the night of our arrival, our host Robert took us out to a neighborhood restaurant to experience real N'awlins cuisine. It was a great experience: the food was lovely and Robert is very good company. He told us a lot about the history and culture of the city, very interesting.
In the house you find all the information you need to enjoy New Orleans, think bus timetables, restaurant information and tour booklets, really handy. The house is so lavishly decorated that I felt like 17th century royalty sleeping in the giant canopy bed, very cool! The bathroom is very pretty with loads of candles and a bubble bath: the perfect setting to relax after a day of sightseeing in New Orleans.
The bus-stop to the French quarter is very close. The downside is that is doesn't go that frequently (once every hour) and that the direct bus only goes until 6 pm. After that you have to change buses. Be sure to check the time tables to avoid long waits.
Overall, we were overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received by Ernie and Robert. When we come back to New Orleans this is the place we will be staying and we warmly recommend it to others: you won't be disappointed!
The Maison Rouge is a beautiful 100+ year home in a great historic neighborhood that is truly unique to New Orleans. Rob has an amazing family history in the city and is a wealth of knowledge (wish we could have spent more time picking his brain), and Ernie takes great care of the house and the guests. Together, it’s obvious that they really want folks to have a great stay. All in all, a beautiful place to enjoy an authentic New Orleans experience.
It was, in a word, memorable. Robert provided a fabulous place in the heart of historic Bywater, his housekeeper Ernie attended to every need daily, including laundry, and kept all amenities, including bottles of Coke, fully stocked. You honestly don't need to bring a thing except yourselves and clothes....toiletries, beverages, ice, linens, all included. The king bed is like a cloud, the whirlpool tub is a retreat. It is a scant 15 minutes to the quarter by bus, and the local neighborhood is kept up and seems an artist haven. If you want to experience New Orleans in a relaxed and stress-free manner, Maison Rouge gets our highest recommendation. We will surely return if and when possible.
Sooooo much for your money!!! We had an awesome stay and would like to thank you for all the hospitality!!!!
What can I say? Once again this cute little red shotgun on Louisa Street made me fall in love with New Orleans all over the place. The southern hospitality of our host Robert, and the beloved Earnie, makes it all too hard to go back to SF. Our first Mardi Gras was super special because of this warm little gem in the Bywater. Just a quick bike ride to St, Roch, the Marigny, and the French Quarter. Make sure and catch all the local Mardi Gras events that start just outside the door of this house. This is the true Mardi Gras. Thank-you Robert and Earnie for making it all so special. Next time I'm there to stay neighbor. <3
What a great stay.
The house is amazing, exactly what we were looking for ! Feels very, hum what's the word ? New Orleans I guess :-)
It's in a perfect location.
Ernie greeted us on our arrival and was helpful with everything.
Robert came by the day after our arrival to say hello, such a nice touch !
We felt really welcomed and comfortable.
Home away from home.
We will definitely book the place again if we are in New Orleans.
Robert's place was absolutely magnificent. It was in a beautiful, truly New Orleanian shotgun house with stately furnishings and tons of character. It was clean as a whistle and stocked to the nines with snacks, wine and ice cold bottled water. His housekeeper, Ernie, was friendly, welcoming and attentive to our every need. The neighborhood was picturesque, safe and walkable to the French Quarter. Highly recommended!
Robert and Ernie were incredibly hospitable. They were welcoming, the house was well outfitted, and incredibly comfortable. I would have no hesitation recommending the maison rouge to anyone and everyone that is coming to New Orleans. Thank you for a wonderful time!
Wow! What can I say that I didn't say after my first time staying here last April? Robert and Ernie are the quintessential old world hosts. Where, nowadays, would one find a host who launders your clothes, has a bottle of bourbon and fresh fruit (and so much more) waiting for you once you step into their charming and beautiful home? Having stayed at so many places in so many locations, I can sincerely say their place is a jewel. Thanks again for a great NOLA experience!
wonderful experience, thanks guys!
