We are a family of three with Anglo-Canadian and Caribbean roots. While arts administration & fundraising and residential contracting are our daytime occupations, our original 1912 home and garden has continued to be an exciting renovation and restoration project for us as a team. One of us speaks German and French, and the other makes the world's best barbecue chicken (not kidding!). And both of us adore watching our preschool-aged daughter grow and learn new things every day.
We love the history and diversity of the Commercial Drive area, and we were delighted to have had the opportunity to buy a great old house that needed some work and bring it back to life. We added our suite after replacing the original foundation - we realized that with our great big yard and top choice location, we could offer a wonderful vacation rental suite to guests.
We enjoy our backyard for lounging (not to mention all sorts of edible berries, veggies and flowers!), and our front steps for basking in the late afternoon summer sun and chatting with friendly neighbours on our block. We love that within a block from us we can find groceries, banking, parks, cupcakes, greek food, poutine, thai, sushi, italian, burritos...well, just about everything! And be sure to ask us about what to do while you are here - we can probably make a few good suggestions for performances, shopping, sightseeing, and restaurants for couples, singles, and families alike.
We have been hosting visitors in our Garden Suite since Spring 2011, but in Summer 2013 we are also opening up the main floors of our home, as we are expecting a baby in September 2013 and will be taking a mat leave year from our regular lives (moving a bit closer to family for a little while). We are delighted to add this new property to our offerings for the coming season, and we look forward to continuing to help our guests make their trips to our city a memorable one.
