My wife and I are both professional's that live and work in Vancouver. We love meeting new people from around the world, welcome!
I had a fantastic stay at Kate's and Jim's place. They are amazing hosts and do everything to make their guests feel comfortable. The room is cosy, the house just beautiful. I enjoyed my time in Deep Cove very much!
We had an excellent time in Deep Cove. Gosh what an awesome town to stay in, our Vancouver trip would have been completely different had we not stayed with Jim and Kate in Deep Cove. Deep cove is such an amazing place to be and it was such a rich balance to being in the city. In Deep Cove we Kayaked, Paddle Boarded, Hiked, had great food, lots of healthy options and it was a wonderful town to explore. So special. Our stay with Kate and Jim was great, they have an amazing home and it really made our stay. We recommend walking out on the rock with coffee and seeing the view in the morning. They have multiple cats that were so cute. It's in no way their repsponisbity because its clearly listed in the description but not being able to cook at all did end up costing us a bit more than I would have liked. But it was so worth it. The room was so relaxing and clean and cozy, it is a really special place and put us so at ease. The decor and energy of the place is magical and so peaceful. Jim and Kate are really cool people and we had such a great experience. Also it was so nice to have our own toilet and sink, it really made us feel comfortable. The futon and room was great and since its so close to the front door and on a different level than our hosts it felt very private and I wasn't worried about disturbing them when we came home later in the evening.
Jim,Kate and their son Quinn were wonderful, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They were always happy to give advice concerning tourist information and very helpful with local knowledge. Their home is in a great location close to the water and has amazing views from both the rear and side decks of the house.
The home is close to public transport as well as a local pub and other restaurants.
Jim visited with us and made us feel welcome.
Highly recommended! We had a great time at this gorgeous spot in Deep Cove in North Vancouver. It is a good place to relax after a long day in the city or after hiking in North Vancouver. The surrounding is also very nice with lots of forests and close to the sea. We did not rent a car, so we had to use the bus to come around. The Connection from Deep Cove to the rest of Vancouver was very good and the Bus station was just about 5 minutes away from Jim and Kate's place. Everything lookes like on the pictures you can see. So, if you want to explore Vancouver Area and relax in nature, this is the best place you can choose!
Jim, Kate and Queen were wonderful hosts. They were friendly and social, easy to talk to and helpful in suggesting activities. We loved the house and the location. It was located walking distance from the beach, parks and the cove. Going to the house is an adventure itself since you have to climb up a hill and then many stairs to get there. I was thankful that Jim offered to take our luggage at arrival and departure. Otherwise I could have never made it up there. We had a great time in Vancouver. The house is very unique with some unique pieces in there. Same thing with the room we stayed at, it felt like camping with ceiling over our head. Consider this house if you like to be close to nature and water.
I think the hill Afsaneh is referring to is what we call the driveway, lol. Many stairs, depends on ones perspective I guess... Afsaneh is a very nice lady, but we would suggest a more traditional hotel in the future.
All the Best, Jim & Kate
Best host you could find away from home. Its set in a beautiful location overlooking the cove, the waterfront and showing you british columbia at its best. You will love the place if you love nature, architecture, free spirits, space to breath, sunbath with the cats on the rock, and look through their books and find quotes like that ........ beautiful homes bring up beautiful people, in every sense of the word ......... so enjoy and take a trip out west!
With coaches like Rene, the Canadian Olympic Snow Board team is in good hands!
All the best, Jim & Kate
Oh my golly gosh, where to start? Jim, Kate & Quinn's place is so beautiful! The pictures do not do it justice - honestly, it's like living in a postcard!
We had breakfast out on the rock every morning, which looks over the water - the house is an attraction in itself!
The village of deep cove is a lovely 10-15 minute walk, and there is amazing kayaking, cute shops, lovely parks, an amazing Japanese restaurant and yummy ice cream! - what more could one need?? It's also close to the city, Stanley park, Grouse mountain and everything else that Vancouver has to offer.
Jim, Kate & Quinn are the sweetest family ever and gave us muffins and coffee each morning (another plus)! They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and having a great time. :)
If you are staying in Vancouver or better yet, North Vancouver, do yourself a favour and stay here! Couldn't recommend it any more - we WILL be back!! :)
The nicest two people you'll ever meet!
Cheers, Jim & Kate
It was a pleasure staying here for a week! I had everything I needed, and my hosts were generous, flexible, and accommodating. It was terrific having access to a computer right in my own room. Deep Cove is a beautiful place to spend a week, and I would certainly be happy to do so again, in Jim and Kate's welcoming home!
My friendly hosting family welcomed me warmly and showed me around their beautiful home. I had a private room and bathroom, but they made sure I understood that I could freely use the kitchen, living room and decks on the top floor. The views from this house are breathtaking, and the cove is a very short walk away. Every house on the street is an architectural gem.
Fabulous family! Jim, Kate and Quinn were really fun to host and hang out with. Come back and stay anytime!
we found this place by accident, and were very positively surprised. jim and kate are extraordinary nice hosts to stay with! they are lovely, humorous, warm and welcoming people with an interesting international background. they know their area more than well and can recommend you hikes, restaurants, nice spots in vancouver. you can reach their house by car, bus, and vancouver downtown is well connected via bus #211 and the seabus (that's the ferry). the property is very well located in a secure area with a parking lot, near beautiful forests, simply in "deep cove". deep cove offers a supercute little town with a couple shops, bakeries, restaurants, and a small harbourside with boats and walkways... the house is romantic and cozy: filled with light, cute cats hanging on several terraces and balconies... the view is breathtaking - you see the ocean, boats and the forests... there's a rock coming out of the property that you can walk onto right from one terrace. you can sit on it (or the chairs) and just watch the ocean scenery, or the sunsets. the room has a comfortable bed and a really romantic vibe. there's a private bathroom with a separate shower, all clean and romantic. we enjoyed talking, having tea and coffee, and BBQ together. we spend some wonderful sunny days in deep cove and would recommend the place to everyone who wants to spend time in vancouver.
It was with great pleasure that I had discovered Jim and Kate's wonderful home. Nestled between the steep, forested mountains and the tranquil Indian Arm inlet lies the quintessential Northwest Coast hamlet of Deep Cove. A few paces up from numerous beaches lies Jim and Kate's home nestled amongst the boulders and Cedar trees. Designed in the rugged modernism that is unique to the Vancouver area, the soaring beams frame the vast expanses of glass only making the views to the surrounding ocean and mountains even more dramatic. Once inside you'll find the warmth of Jim and Kate's genuine hospitality and the incredible accommodations. I found the guest room to be a most romantic place to stare out of the floor to ceiling window surrounded by the security inducing lush foliage. My morning coffee took on the feeling of a zen meditation. Thank you again for the amazing experiences.
Not only are Jim and Katie welcoming and warm hosts, their hospitality coupled with the coastal charm of their home give guests a true West Coast experience. The open floor plan, and expansive views of the coast make this a vacation like no other. I wholeheartedly recommend their home as a top notch West Coast destination.
Great location in a Beautiful part of Vancouver. The view's are unbelievable ! I could look out on the mist coming down the Mountains out on side and the Inlet on the other. Close to the Village area with restaurants , shops and the Marina. A truly peaceful magical place in a beautiful City.
Kate is my sister and you will find her and her husband, James to be very gracious hosts who will make you feel welcome. Their home is ideally located within walking distance of the little village of Deep Cove on the ocean, as well as they are just around the corner from Strathcona Beach which is a very lovely spot. You will enjoy your stay in their mountainside home!
Kate is our daughter and, along with her husband James, have created a lovely room and atmosphere in their well located home with magnificent views of the ocean and mountains close to the endearing little place called Deep Cove. They will make you feel welcome and I know you will enjoy your stay with them!
