We stayed in this place for one night. Taxi driver didnt get us there, because of many people in the harbor.
I was aspected at least hot shower, but water was cold, no curtains on the window and only one towel for two persons.
If you are looking for a place to stay for one night and you are not very choosy that its not a bad place for you.
The worst night on our vacation: we had to leave the lights on in order for the rats (!!!) not to enter our room. There was a hole in the ceiling where they came out at night!
Other than that the room was dusty and dark, moreover it was very noisy (even at night) because the ferry harbor is right outside the hostel (announcements through speakers every couple minutes). The staff was okay but not remarkably friendly. Very impersonal atmosphere. Shared bathroom. Not recommendable.
Clean & cheap. Friendly staff (they sorted out my transfer to the Gilis at a much lower price than was asked of me at the harbor) and cool restaurant downstairs. There's not much to do in Padang Bai area, but I heard diving is meant to be quite good. I would definitely stay there again.
Plain and simple, neat and friendly, open bamboo establishment with nice air flow. Restaurant downstairs makes decent food, staff are v friendly and the silversmith in front of shop is a very genuine man, short walk from good snorkelling in blue lagoon and white sand beach, downsides are some bedrooms face into vacant lot next door used for disposing of waste, woke to a burning beginning at 6 one morning, fortunate to have the wind in my favour, can clearly hear and will wake if a light sleeper, the morning to evening announcements broadcast through loudspeakers on the ferry terminal that begin at daybreak, the bedding leaves a little to be desired, soft foam pieces and stains on some sheets, staff happy to change these at no cost though, beyond the vacant lot is a small cemetary which was host to quite a beautiful musical ceremony one day I was there.
In all for me padangbai was a nice place not to have much to do and read a book, watch the children play football or fly kites on the beach in the afternoon, food in padangbai not as impressive or diverse as my experience of the rest of the island.
If youre looking for somewhere cheap and quiet to park for an evening or 3 before taking a boat to one of the other islands then this is great, youll meet young backpackers with friendly demeanour and enjoy a few hours a day in a hammock, longer stays id suggest elsewhere, Sidamon and Amed to the north or Sanur to the south come to mind, found exquisite homestays for the same cost or less
Nice Place, nice stay.
Go to eat at Martini's Warung.
Erg prettig verblijf, vriendelijke mensen en overal dichtbij! Erg fijn verblijf gehad!
Description was accurate, very good location. I expected to have some pleasant hours at the blue lagoon seaside, but it is unfortunately full of rubbish (water and beach, too). Padang Bai is practical to stay maximum 1 day to catch the ferry to Lombok or Gili islands, but not more as it is very small and you can do hardly anything.
