Hi, I'm Adrien!
I'm happy to welcome you into my charming Ile Saint Louis flat, recommend Parisian restaurants and make sure your stay is a most comfortable and pleasant one!
The reservation was canceled 24 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great flat, great location, great host! My wife and I spent a week here and couldn't be happier. I used to live in Paris and I always wondered what would be a good location to stay for a short visit, and I'm convinced now it's Île Saint-Louis. We walked pretty much everywhere, and we originally chose this location because of its proximity to everything else, but we also kept coming back to the conclusion that some of the best restaurants, shops, cafes, etc. are actually on Île Saint-Louis itself. At the same time, it seems to be a hidden gem that isn't overrun by tourists (although we were there in February, so not too many tourists to begin with). The flat is just as described and shown in pictures. We spent very little time there but always loved coming "home" in the evenings. Adrien was very accommodating - he let us check in early, and when we noticed a small leak in the bathroom, he had someone take care of it right away, even though he himself was on vacation at the time. He also left us some tasty cheese an wine. I highly recommend this flat to anyone visiting Paris.
If you are traveling to Paris for the first time - live here. You do not go mad with the amount of people, will be at hand all the necessary attractions and shops, a church right next door. Just save your nerves. As for the apartment - if your height is 150 cm, you will be comfortable Pts. If the above - well, that will have to bend on the second floor. Just remember this) and everything is comfortable, cozy, normal beds, bathroom, towels, etc. there.
Fernanda was a very welcoming hostess. The location was perfect, very close to Notre-Dame and within walking distance to almost every top sight in Paris. The only weak point about the apartment is the low height of the ceiling when standing in the mezzanine.
I highly recommend renting this flat. Adrien and his property manager Maria Fernanda are wonderful; their communication was great! This flat is exactly what we were looking for in a Paris flat. The location is perfect, the best in the city - an easy walk to multiple metro stations makes it convenient to get anywhere you want to go. The apartment is charming and looks just like the photos. I don't know how old the building is, but it has been very well maintained. I hope to stay here again next time I'm in Paris!
Nice place. Well maintained and greatly located. Upper floor may be dangerous for your head - watch out! Responsible and flexible host.
So much to say and so few words alloted! My best friend and I stayed in this flat from 31 October through 5 November. We arrived early in Paris and were happily met by Adriana at 9 AM with the key and instructions. The flat was much like what has already been described! I'm tall and had pondered the problem of the beams. Our solution...we blew up pink and white balloons and taped them to all the offending low beams. They provided a colorful reminder to duck and a boyant reminder if we forgot to duck! Upon arrival, we also opened all the windows to air out strong odors from cleaning solutions. Later, we lit candles and brought in flowers from the local florist to freshen the air and add some cheer. The flat is dark and needs lamps, as well as a good deep scrubbing, TLC, and minor repairs to electrical sockets, cabinet doors, and towel racks. There was no handsoap and the linens were old, but clean. There were no washcloths or kitchen towels, and the linens didn't really fit the sofa on which I slept. The sofa itself was very comfortable! We could have done without the giant TV, and could have used an outlet to plug in the stereo!
The location of the flat is extraordinary. Steps to the Seine, Notre Dame, and great shops .We made good use of local bakeries, cheese shops, and the grocery store...and enjoyed breakfast in the flat every morning before venturing out. We took advantage of the Sully Morland Metro stop, which was closest to the flat. Our favorite restuarant in Paris became the St. Regis right on Ile St. Louis beside Pont St. Louis. It is always open, lively, and has great food, service, and free wifi. Another great restaurant is Cafe Med. AVOID Aux Anisetiers Du Roy!!!
If you stay in Adrien's flat, be sure to visit the cathedral across the street. It is stunning, and magical to hear the bells chiming from within the flat.
Aside from the aesthetic problems mentioned, our concerns were mostly safety related. The beams DO need to be wrapped with foam and highlighted (perhaps with a string of LED lights) to prevent serious injury. The bathroom is nicely updated with plenty of hot water, but the bathtub is VERY DEEP and the only thing to grab onto is a thin, wobbly sheet of glass...a DISASTER waiting to happen. A grab bar would be a simple, inexpensive solution. The key to the apartment has to be jiggled "just so" to work, and that was sometimes scary...and the outside light over the keypad to get into the building was often UNLIT..we used our cell phone flashlight apps.
All that said, I would recommend the flat and would stay again in a heartbeat. We have a deep appreciation for the history of the building and it was fun to live on Ile St. Louis while in Paris! Just be sure to bring balloons!!!
This property is in an amazing location. Other than that we were quite disappointed. It has great potential but badly in need of some tender loving care. First thing, it needs a good cleaning. The lighting is very poor, both daylight and electric lights. Almost impossible to read anywhere except at the small dining table. There are no lamps, just ceiling lights. The only window overlooks the rubbish in the center of the building and it is very noisy with garbage being dumped throughout the day. Between that and loud arguing neighbors at night it was hard to really relax. There are many items that need repair. Bed linens need to be upgraded. We were only given two bath towels and one hand towel for our weeks stay. Kitchen linens consisted of two towels? They really appeared to be napkins and were basically useless except to drain washed items. I spent a bit of time cleaning before we could settle in and feel comfortable. Our check-in went smoothly. We were let in by Fernanda and she was very pleasant. We tried to call 4 times on her cell phone to talk about the apartment and info about a taxi but we never got a call back. We did receive an email from her after we got home. She said her cell phone broke. As noted in the listing, the upstairs is not for tall people. Anyone over 5 foot 2 inches is going to have a problem. In spite of all this, the location allowed us to get around very easily. We found Paris to be clean and the people friendly, contrary to what I had been led to believe. 99% of our encounters with locals were positive. I hope the owner refreshes this property as it could be a real gem.
5 star location!
3 star accommodation.
While they have done the best they can with a difficult layout, the complete lack of an outside window is the one tough sticking point that doesn't go away. Great local cheese, bread, wine, perfume, ice cream all doorways away!!! Location, location, location cannot be beat!,,
Nice apartment, the Mezzanine floor is a little low and I did bump my head pretty hard.. Ideal location to get to both the right and left banks.. Fantastic restaurants and ice cream shop for the little ones..
