As described. Howler monkey's are present and loud. But very cool. 35 minute walk into downtown Puerto Viejo. 5 minute walk to store. Easy access to ocean and parks. Clean and comfy. Beds have nets.
This place was great! Exactly what we were looking for. Kitchen was perfect for cooking simple breakfast and dinners. Loved the patio with hammocks and table. Very close to the beach. The only downside was the howler monkeys who woke us up and dawn every morning, but that was just apart of the experience :)
What a perfect little piece of paradise. We felt so at home the moment we arrived and we didn't want to Leave. Everything was how you would have it if you lived there yourself. Practical, spacious, airy, unique. I would recommend to my best friend.
This was a great place! A close walk to the Playa Cocles, filtered water, great outdoor shower, and more. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the essentials we needed to cook. There was even a cleaning service that showed up during our stay. The property manager was beyond friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. But be prepared for a 4 am rooster call.
Casa Rameen was such a wonderful find. The house itself was very clean, well kept and nicely decorated. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking, there were fans in each room and a beautiful "outdoor" bathroom that was a delight. The location of the house is excellent- a short drive or bike ride from the beach and 1.5 kilometers from Puerto Viejo. The neighbors have dogs and chickens that were regularly in our yard, which we loved, but if you aren't an animal person be aware! Guillermo, the property manager, was very responsive and helpful.
The downside was that all of the fees were not up front. While the house is listed as $70 per night, there is a $60 cleaning fee. While I knew that up front, what I was not expecting was AFTER booking the house, I was informed that there is a $40 "late check in" fee after 6pm! While Valerie was very responsive when I made the booking and while I was at the house, she never responded when I asked about the fee. We were uncomfortable about the extra fees and worried we would encounter more during our trip and while the trip went well, I would contact Valerie and get all of the information up front before booking the house.
We had an enjoyable weekend in Cocles thanks to this cute little house. Valerie was very responsive and easy to work with, and we received great, detailed information about the house and the surrounding community from her to help plan our time there. The house is true to its description and was the perfect amount of space for our family of 5. We especially enjoyed the outdoor bathroom and shower, and the short walk to the pristine white sand Cocles beach was great. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for cooking which is always important when traveling with a family. The one drawback for us arose from the need to do a late check-in. I will say that if you even think you might need to check in after 6pm, then this is not a great choice of a place to stay for you. The property manager charges an additional fee for doing a late check in, which was not originally disclosed on the Airbnb ad. Additionally, he was impossible to get a hold of once we did arrive, making for a stressful check in process. Fortunately, we were able to get in touch with Valerie over text message, even though she was in the States, and she walked us through everything we needed to do to get into the house. That one issue aside, the rest of our stay was great, and I would definitely consider staying here again if we were to return to the area.
