My profession is scientific research at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda Maryland. I read a lot of non fiction, vacations for me are long trips and car camping.
Ann was a great host, and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay a great experience. She provided regular e-mail updates as the trip date grew closer. The cabin was fantastic--a 5-minute drive from UVA, but in a completely rural setting, surrounded by nature.
We LOVE staying with Ann. This is our second visit to her amazing cabin and thoroughly enjoy it! It is so beautiful and welcoming and is very close to Charlottesville and the vineyards. But it’s also just removed enough that you feel like you are getting some time away. Can’t recommend this place enough!
The cabin is magnificent--truly an architectural gem in a lovely setting. Completely private yet close to town, the cabin is a delight. Ann was wonderful to work with; she responded promptly and fully to all questions and made our stay at her wonderful home a unique experience!
This was my second time staying at the cabin. I can’t begin to say enough about the cabin itself. It is the perfect place to get away for a weekend and clear the mind. It’s close to everything, yet completely isolated at the same time. The only thing that is more pleasant than the cabin is its host. Ann could not be any better with making your stay at the cabin easy and relaxing. She has everything covered from her communication prior to arrival and use of things at the cabin to suggestions on local attractions and things to do. She even prepared the fireplace with logs and starter so all we had to do was light a match when we arrived. This is a must if you are in the area. It’s one of those places that you start planning your next trip there when you close the door to leave.
Ann was a great host from the moment I booked the cabin. She sent detailed, easy to understand, accurate directions on how to reach the location and gave us everything we would need to be ready upon our arrival.
The cabin itself is clean and tidy with a full kitchen and lots of amenities that I wasn't expecting:
-towel warmer in the bathroom
-extra chargers for phones
-several extra blankets on couches and beds
-stocked spice rack for cooking
-lots of cookware/dinnerware ready to go
-fireplace and firewood ready to go
These touches made for an immediately naturally comfortable living space. I never felt like I should have brought anything more than necessary. Lighting in and around the cabin is also great. You can opt to turn on only a few lights and have the interior dimly lit, or you can choose to turn on everything and keep things bright as day.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone who was looking for a quiet, secluded place to stay while still being a short drive away from Downtown Charlottesville. It's great for a couple or for a group of friends. The floor-to-ceiling glass in the kitchen area is awesome!
The cabin was perfect and my family really enjoyed eating breakfast in the beautiful dining area in front of the glass wall. What a treasure tucked away in the woods.
The log cabin is a gem in the quiet woods of Charlottesville. Wonderful accommodation- comfortable beds, state of the art kitchen, and fireplace for a perfect place to end the day. Ann gave easy detailed instructions and made us feel so much at home. I have no doubt I will stay here again on my next trip to C'ville!
Beautiful log cabin - very secluded and extremely comfortable stay. Ann was very responsive to all of our questions and made the trip very easy.
What a perfect weekend! Ann was a wonderful host, quickly responding to any questions and providing all the information we needed to make our trip go smoothly. The cabin is so charming and well-maintained and in such a beautiful area. My family and I had a great stay and would certainly love to come again!
It barely needs to be said after one glance at the photos, but this is the most unique place I've ever stayed through the site. It completely delivered: incredible scenery, thoughtful design and furnishings, killer kitchen, comfortable beds, clear instructions. It is (deliberately) the sort of place where you're gonna want to bring a deck of cards or a chess set or something, but even if you don't, there are a few true classics of world literature to entertain you. Would come back in a heartbeat, and I regret leaving.
