Christi is ontzettend gastvrij en haar huis is een pareltje in het centrum van Gent. Wij hebben ons erg op ons gemak gevoeld en komen graag nog eens terug!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The home in Ghent is absolutely charming and is in an ideal location for walking into the city center. We did not meet Christi, but Henri was gracious on arrival as he showed us around. The first night we stayed not he attic room - very charming with a great bathroom and two single beds. The other 2 nights we were in the larger room with a large bed, more suitable for traveling with my husband than the attic space. The area was a bit difficult to locate at first as first as the directions provided mention a street/landmark across from the tram stop that does not appear to have any markings on it, but once we found it the location it was easy to get to and from. A very charming, authentic Ghent home. The only downside was that we could hear other guests talking well into the early morning on our first night in the room below. Perhaps bring earplugs just in case you have chatty neighbors as we did.
The studio is cozy and is perfectly situated. We stayed in the attic room for one night before moving to a lower space for the remaining two nights so that my husband and I could share one larger bed. The attic space has a wonderful seating area and a very nice bathroom! The check-in time is a bit late, but manageable and worth the great room and area. Henri was a charming host (Angela had a busy work schedule that week we stayed so we diid not have the chance to meet, but her communications leading up to the stay were plentiful).
Christi's home is absolutely gorgeous. It is good to note her check in time, since we got to ghent early we had to pick up the keys at her work which was difficult with luggage. We also were given the keys to the wrong room, but Christi was very apologetic and communicative and we were able to sort it out the next day. We really enjoyed staying in her home, thanks Christi!
The location was fantastic! We loved staying here! It was quiet yet really close to the city center. The building was also great and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
Christi is lovely, but the communications were not as good as they could have been, which meant that we didn't get the information we asked for before we started. Result - parked in the wrong place (because we don't speak Dutch), and got a parking ticket. Also, through no fault of her own Christi couldn't be there to let us in, but didn't have a 'Plan B' for getting access, so we had to spend a long time driving through Ghent to the hospital where she works to find her. She had tried to get this message to us but we had not picked it up - partly our fault, partly hers.
However - when we did finally get to the house we found it to be breathtakingly lovely, an exquisite old Ghent house, immaculately and lovingly restored and beautifully decorated in a sympathetically modern way which in no way spoils its overall feeling of antiquity. Lovely big bedroom, and bathroom.
It is in a very quiet square, presumably a conservation area, near to the city centre.
The courtyard garden is completely charming - peaceful and private with a resident blackbird to sing to you, and a real balm to the soul after a stressful day. The garden may be shared with someone else, but I think they were away when we were there.
If you’re there in summer, put on mosquito repellent before you go to bed!
Ghent itself is an interesting mix of very old and beautifully preserved buildings, mostly along the canals, some good new developments and lovely renovations, some pretty horrible examples of ‘60’s architecture and ‘planning’, and some fairly down-at-heel areas, also rather nice residential areas away from the town centre.
We would love to have spent more time there and got to know Christi better – from our very brief meeting she seems extremely nice and very hospitable.
Make sure you're aware of the check-in and out times. We arrived much too early which was our fault for not having checked first - the info. is on the listing.
We enjoyed the cosy studio in Christi's beautiful old house. Good location to discover Gent.
Amazing place to stay! Christi was incredibly helpful in suggesting things to do in Ghent. The room is huge, impeccably clean, and offers a great view of her garden and the iconic medieval rooftops. The castle and river are only a few minutes away by foot. Visit Ghent, and stay with Christi!
Christi was a great host. The studio was clean and very spacious. The location was fantastic. Would stay there again!
Christi was aardig en heeft ons appartement weer netjes achtergelaten. Altijd welkom!
Christi is such a lovely and respectful girl. We really had a great connection. She was interested in the place and the decoration.
She left the house perfectly clean.
Christi, come back whenever you want!!
We experienced unseasonably freezing weather that created many cabins to have frozen pipes/and or no water, Even though, I offered to get a hotel room for them, she choose to stay in our cabin. I have not met her personally, each person that met them said they were very understanding and a delight to meet. Thank you!
