The listing describes the Healing Arts Heritage House well. It's in a great location, a very short walk to Whyte Ave with lots of cool stores and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable (good bed, good wifi)and basic. The house has a slightly run-down quality, which may appeal to those who are not into hotel anonymity. It is nice to see people living communally, and these folks seem to have a good thing going for themselves. Jen was efficient in taking care of small things that we needed. This accommodation works best for someone who likes an independent experience and with minimal in-person contact with the host. We enjoyed meeting some of the housemates and I have a special soft spot for Fabio, the albino lizard-kind-creature.
Jen had everything ready and was available on my arrival to show me around. She had a well printed booklet explaining the house, which areas are private and which are available to guests. The house was very quiet most of the time, and there was a friendly atmosphere with the tenants I met. There's a big fridge for storing groceries, and a good kitchen for meal prep. I'd say that the house matched the description given.
The house is on a quiet side street, about 6 blocks from the trendy Strathcona area. Lots of shops and restaurants on Whyte Ave nearby.
I'd stay there again.
Thank you for letting us stay with you for our visit to Edmonton. Your location was perfect for visiting our family! The bed was comfortable and the house was quiet.
I contacted my host by text with my arrival time but there was no one to greet me. I rang the bell and found the door unlocked so entered the house and sat in the hallway. Called out but no sign of anyone for over 30 mins. Eventually Jen texted me and sent up Jens from the basement. My room wasnt ready so he made it up
Everything was smooth. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and close to shopping and restaurants. Easy walk to the river. The place is exactly as listed. The place is huge. Even though there were a few people staying there, it didn't feel like it. I never did meet Jen, but everyone else was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was nice. A small hint a incense was in the air, and not overwhelming. The bed was comfortable. The back yard had lots of chickadees around. It really just felt like a home, which is what I was looking for. Thanks Jen. I will definitely be back. :)
The listing is very accurate. The place was clean and welcoming. I have stayed with with folks at Healing Arts Heritage House a few times and it never disappoints.
The location for people that want to explore Edmonton is great as it is close to downtown, the river valley, and Old Strathcona.
What a beautiful, relaxing, welcoming home! We had an incredible short stay in this warm and cozy place filled with interesting and artistic hosts. It's close to all the great offerings of Old Strathcona, free parking, beautiful walks, great restaurants, everything you need if you want to go out, but the house also offers more than enough to keep you occupied indoors if you're looking for a quieter getaway. I would encourage anyone to experience this gem.
Jen wasn't around during our stay, but she did pass us on to the other guys in the house and made it very easy for us to get everything we needed. Christie welcomed us on arrival and gave us a tour of this beautiful historic home; it's well worth a visit just to climb the secret staircase to the tower! Plus, taking some time to relax in the steam room is a perfect start or end to the day. Every corner of the house was thoughtfully geared towards community living and we were provided with everything we needed. Although the house is massive and there are many people living there, we were made to feel right at home and had access to everything we could need.
Our room was warm and clean and spacious with a very comfy bed, towels, and plenty of books on the shelves to rifle through. The charismatic house cat Tomato was in there to greet us and settle us in.
A Huge thank you to everyone at the house for making our stay so lovely, and for creating a truly wonderful home community there. I will be coming back to the house as soon as possible for some tranquility in their yoga space, to get some reading done, and soak up the wonderful vibes of this sanctuary. Can't wait!
Had a fabulous time at the Healing Arts Heritage House on our last trip to Edmonton. The home and room were exactly as advertised. It's a very peaceful location, and it felt so good to come back to that environment after each long, busy day in the city. I would definitely stay here again!
A beautiful heritage house in a central location. What more could one ask! :)
This was a great place to stay. Friendly people, quiet neighbourhood and surprisingly close to a very cool part of town. In short, we would recommend this place to anyone and would definitely come back.
