Frank and Lynda were wonderful hosts! We loved the historic street and beautiful room to come back to after a day of exploring New London and the surrounding area. The home is a great proximity to not only downtown NL, but also Mystic and some great state parks. We especially loved Bluff Point State Park. Our hosts gave us great suggestions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and had coffee for us in the morning. Frank was flexible and accommodating with our late arrival and Lynda made sure we had time to relax before heading out. It was an excellent trip and if we are ever back in the area, will be coming back to 18 Starr Street!
Frank and Linda are very gracious hosts. Lovely to talk to and most accommodating. An idyllic street in the heart of New London, easy to walk to local attractions. I stayed with my daughter and it was all that was described and more. Their historic home was beautifully appointed and clean.
For the accommodations, our hosts thought of all possible needs. The private room had a flat screen TV and interesting books and current magazines for a relaxing read. Guides to local attractions and restaurant menus also made our first time visit to the area easier. We were not expecting the snacks and chocolates for us to enjoy. Although we had brought our own toiletries along, the bathroom was stocked with everything from shampoos to Q-tips for our convenience. Coffee was also offered to us in the morning along. Just an overall very pleasant and first airbnb stay. I will definitely return and stay again when next in the area. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Very kind words. Thanks for the detailed review.
There are so many great things about our trip to New London. First off Frank and Lynda are the perfect hosts. Everything from their helpful local knowledge to the much appreciated snack basket in the room and the outrageously comfy bed was wonderful, but most of all their warm hospitality and friendliness. Their beautiful house, situated on a historic street is a stone’s throw from the downtown area. New London is lovely, combining picturesque charm with great buzz and genuine local flair, and a plethora of interesting destinations in the town and the vicinity e.g. cafés, galleries, beach and the nearby town of Mystic left us with fond memories of our weekend away. Frank and Lynda, you haven’t seen the last of us!
Frank and Lynda were absolutely wonderful hosts. Their room was just splendid and they provided snacks and water which I thoroughly appreciated. The bed was just like they said, warm and cozy, I slept like a baby! The coffee in the morning was just perfect! Being able to walk to restaurants was great since there was still lots of snow! Daddy Jacks was awesome and the Lobster Ravioli was delicious! I will definitely stay again next year if I come back to New London for work. Thanks so much Lynda and Frank, hope you come see us in Texas!
Glad we lived up to your expectations. We look forward to your return next year.
Frank and Linda are lovely hosts who went out of their way to pick us up at the train station because the roads were snowed over which we really appreciated. Their home is just lovely, the room and bathroom are clean, beautifully decorated and very comfortable --- better than any hotel we've stayed. They left lots of amenities on hand in case we forgot anything and made coffee every morning. Would highly recommend staying in their beautiful home. It's on the prettiest street in New London and very convenient. We loved it and will definitely be back!
Thanks for your kind review...New London beckons...come for a weekend visit via Amtrak. Great restaurants and a growing music scene.
I had such a comfortable stay in Lynda and Frank's beautiful house. It was everything you could want. Great bed, great private bathroom. And although I didn't meet Frank, Lynda was great and helpful in finding the best local dinner spots.
We loved the quiet, well appointed room. It was very cute and cozy! Frank and Lynda have provided amenities that welcome their guests. We enjoyed coffee laid out in the morning and water and snacks provided by the hosts. The house is an architectural treasure (as are other houses on the same street) of the early 19th century. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the house to other travelers.
Frank was kind, welcoming and flexible with check-in. Their home is beautiful, in a very convenient location, and the guest room was perfect; very comfortable and private. They ensured that anything a guest may need was available. If recommend this listing to anyone who is planning a trip to southeastern CT!
My boyfriend and I visited New London for the weekend and Frank and Lynda's place was perfect! The location is perfect for checking out New London and we were able to easily walk to the train station, local shops, and restaurants. They were great hosts and gave us great suggestions about local places to check out. They were really welcoming and the room is great! Very clean, comfortable, and cozy. They were wonderful to visit with as well. We also took a spin on their tandem bike, which was really fun. We only have great things to say about this place.
Frank and Lynda were just wonderful; it was like visiting friends! The room and bathroom are WAY better than they look in the pictures; the room is spacious, with a cathedral ceiling, and plenty of lovely amenities (TV, snack basket, big closet, clocks and reading lamps, A/C) and well decorated---SO pleasant and comfortable!, and the bathroom was also big! No pics on the site, but this bathroom is roomy and very nice quality---tiled shower with good water pressure, hair dryer, and a basket of possible necessaries--toothbrush, paste, razor, shaving cream, aspirin, bandaids, etc., plus Q tips, and cotton balls. We were just so pleased with it.
The stairs up to it were steep, as advertised, but my mother has a bad knee, and she was able to do it. Good railing, and they are carpeted. The bathroom is just across the landing from the bedroom, a high step up.
I do have to say that the room does NOT have a private entrance, not really---one does have to go thru the owner's foyer and hallway---not far, but still.....However, we didn't see the owners often as we passed thru, pretty soon it was just as if it was our house! We felt that comfortable! And, it IS a lovely house, lovely garden and incredible street to be on. We highly recommend it.
Thanks, we'll came the information to so.i-private entrance so there is no confusion, and we'll update photos.
Frank and Lynda were awesome guests. We enjoyed having them stay with us. Come back and visit our town anytime. Safe travels
It's not often that two strangers can have an informed discussion of "Kelo v. the City of New London", but Frank and I did. Ha. Though he and his wife stayed only one night, I'm glad that we had the chance to chat and discover so many shared interests. I hope that maybe they will pass this way again and hit me up for another stay.
Frank and Lynda were great guests. They were so kind to give me extra time to get their room ready before checking in since I had other guests checking out that morning and was already at work when they made their request for reservation. They were very independent and left my room in order. So nice to host fellow AirBnB hosts. Thank you for choosing my guest room in Charleston. I appreciate you.
Frank travels light and well. He will research his trip destination, know where to go, what to see, and where to eat, and be wholly independent the entire stay.
He hosts his house to Airbnb members, and probably likes the program enough to support other members when he travels to their towns.
