Wonderful hosts - very courteous and welcoming. The private room and bathroom were immaculate and very comfortable. They had thoughtfully left out extra blankets and space heaters (it is cold there in January!), snacks and extra toiletries in case you forgot anything. We were able to park in their driveway which was a plus since street parking was for residents only. The neighborhood is very quiet and quaint. We very much enjoyed our stay!
Becca and I loved staying here. The room was great and the bathroom had everything we needed. Also the snacks in the bedroom were ideal.
The house was in the historic district which was very pretty, but the overall location was a little sketchy with a lot of people milling around a few streets away. And a lot of run down streets as we drove around New London.
If we pass through new London again I would book here straight away. We even had off street parking.
Thanks so much Frank!
Beate was happy as well. It is hard to find a nice place so close to MItchell College, where her son is. Thank you again!
My husband and I stayed in Frank's extra room as our launching point for a coastal New England weekend (about 20 mins to Mystic and about 40 mins from Watch Hill, RI). We had a lot of privacy as the room is the only one upstairs and we were able to come and go easily. The room is very clean and cozy. Frank and his wife gave us some great info about the area, especially when they directed us to Muddy Waters for coffee - what a gem! We had a great time!
We stayed here for only one night as a half-way Amtrak-stop between New York and Boston. New London turned out to be a very good place to stop. Nice little village with some old buildings and the beach nearby. Including some nice restaurants/bars.
When we arrived the beach towels were ready for us! We took one of the bicycles (tandem, fun!) to go to Ocean Beach (25 minutes).
The room itself was ok: not big, but the bed was very comfortable!!
The morning coffee (with company of Frank!) was very good. Unfornately no breakfast, but on walking distance was the café Muddy Waters, which offers good breakfasts.
We recommand this town, room and owner!
Our stay at Frank's house had been a very pleasant experience. The room upstairs is very private and clean. Frank and Linda are also very considerate. Linda prepared us coffee every morning as well as beach towels. I would remember any one who are looking for a place to stay in new London consider Frank and Linda's house!
Starr Street in New London is a hidden gem. A picture-perfect, postcard-worthy street with beautifully restored houses, it is steps away from Bank Street and the train station. Totally unexpected and delightful!
This was my first time staying anywhere with AirBnB, and I was a little worried, but Frank and Lynda put me right at ease. They are both extremely friendly and warm. And thoughtful -- Lynda even gave me a ride twice!
The room and private bathroom are both gorgeous and the space felt very private and cozy. Bed was comfortable and snug, with a beautiful quilt on top of it. There was a sweet guest basket in the room with an apple, water, chocolate, and trail mix. In the bathroom, there was a small basket of all the little things you could've forgotten (toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, etc). Very welcoming and nice -- I felt like a very welcomed guest in a house with very thoughtful hosts.
Frankly, there aren't a lot of places to stay in New London, so I was really glad to find this one! I will definitely be back!
We had a 2 night stay. The bedroom is very lovely and peaceful with a little TV and useful information on the local area. It is all very private so you have your own space and they have theirs. Frank efficiently welcomed us and answered our questions. We waived hello to Linda as she ran out the door in the morning, but never had a chance to meet. And nicest of all, Frank was kind enough to promptly call us because I had left a little bag of things and said he would send them to me. Much appreciated and we highly recommend this place if you are in the area.
Response from Frank:
Frank and Lynda were excellent hosts with a very comfortable home. The upstairs bedroom and bath were completely private, and my friend and I did not feel intrusive walking in the short entryway to the stairs. The accommodations were nice, and we had no issues. Frank and Lynda were also generous enough to drive us to the beach (where they have a pass) and to Mystic, as well as loan us beach towels. They were also extremely flexible in accommodating our odd check-in/out times, and just generally providing anything we needed. Very excellent!
This was the perfect backdrop to our New England vacation! and what a nice room and fantastic hosts! We stayed at Frank's beautiful house for two nights and our bed was so comfortable I (ashamedly) overslept on the two mornings. The house is located on a postcard-perfect street, with a parking spot for guests in the driveway. You'll find a private access to your room and bathroom, which are both exquisitely furnished and immaculate. This room had many little touches that make the difference between a hotel and a home, a feeling stengthened by the discrete and welcoming presence of the hosts.
I could not think of anything missing, except perhaps more time to stay in New London and enjoy Ocean Beach, the nicest swimming location of our entire trip to new England! Oh, I already miss its white sand and cristal-clear water...
Frank and Lynda were awesome guests. We enjoyed having them stay with us. Come back and visit our town anytime. Safe travels
It's not often that two strangers can have an informed discussion of "Kelo v. the City of New London", but Frank and I did. Ha. Though he and his wife stayed only one night, I'm glad that we had the chance to chat and discover so many shared interests. I hope that maybe they will pass this way again and hit me up for another stay.
Frank and Lynda were great guests. They were so kind to give me extra time to get their room ready before checking in since I had other guests checking out that morning and was already at work when they made their request for reservation. They were very independent and left my room in order. So nice to host fellow AirBnB hosts. Thank you for choosing my guest room in Charleston. I appreciate you.
Frank travels light and well. He will research his trip destination, know where to go, what to see, and where to eat, and be wholly independent the entire stay.
He hosts his house to Airbnb members, and probably likes the program enough to support other members when he travels to their towns.
