I am a busy 28 year-old native New Yorker who loves traveling, speaking Spanish and meeting new people.
I was already familiar with the neighborhood, and so happy to find this studio. Walked to grocery store, drugstore, other shopping, many restaurants, salons, bank ATMs, and train (subway)! The Q or N train had me into Manhattan in a jiffy, Jenny is a very caring host- always answered email, texts, etc. The mattress (temperpedic, I think) was very comfortable, and my friend thought the couch was so comfortable that we didn't need to bother to make it out into a bed for her. Kitchenette had everything we needed. When my friend really wanted a soy latte, we only had to dash downstairs and across the street to Ovelia's, and there were lots of other choices. Always had enough hot water in tub/shower! Jenny even made room in one closet for our hanging clothes. This was so helpful, because we were attending a fancy event. Working the keys in the locks took some practice, but I have found this to be the case with other New York apartments, too. I got the hang of it. This was a spring visit- with windows a bit open (rain or shine) and somtimes using Jenny's little electric fan at night, temperature in the apartment was good. Wish I could move to this Astoria neighborhood!
this Astoria neighborhood!
We stayed at Jennys place for 5 days and loved it! Jenny was very helpful and providing us with all the information prior to landing in NY. She made sure we were comfortable.the location is excellent, lots of places to eat and wonder around and discover various cultures. short subway ride to the city. Cute and comfy place to stay. Would love to stay here again.:)
We stayed at Jenny's place for our last night in NYC and Jenny was the perfect host. She was flexible and helpful and provided all the info we needed for a great last night. We would definitely recommend her place - convenient and comfy! Thanks again Jenny!
This studio apt was very nice! Very quiet and clean. Location was convenient to restaurants and the subway. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Our stay was delightful and perfect for us. Cozy studio and wonderful host. Charming building very close to Metro and everything needed within walking distance-even 9atholic church.
Jenny is a very communicative and accommodating host. The check-in/check-out/reservation process was as smooth and easy as can be. The location is ideal. Astoria offers an authentic slice of NY's diversity, is hip in its own unique way, and the apt is a 2-3 minute walk to the subway. I expected the place to feel a little cramped for 3 adults, but it was actually pretty spacious. Both the bed and fold-out sofa were comfortable.
Believe all of the other reviews for Jenny and her place because they are true. She was a delight to deal with when booking the place. She was quick to answer emails and answered every question I had. Although I did not need to, she said she was nearby and easily reachable if I had any questions or issues during my stay.
Her place is a short walk from the metro station and surrounded by a variety of good restaurants. With all of this so close, I was surprised by how little noise I heard from the streets with the windows open in the apartment. We kept them open all night to enjoy the nice weather and were not woken up once.
The apartment was clean and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. I meant to lie on it to stretch my back when I first arrived and ended up taking a 30 minute nap! The shower provided plenty of hot water.
The elevator is right next door, but I did not hear it at all. You have to look out for it, or you will miss it. It is the non-red door that is smaller than all of the others.
I had a wonderful time staying here. I will definitely keep Jenny's place in mind for future trips to NYC!
Jenny's apartment was very comfortable and felt like home. We felt safe in the neighborhood, which is full of restaurants and cafes, and loved the vibrant atmosphere. We were able to find parking a few blocks away, but even better was the building's proximity to subway lines that take you directly to Manhattan. As a host, Jenny was wonderful - very kind and laid back. We really appreciated how accomodating she was with our arrival and departure times, and the extra little things she did to make our stay more comfortable, like providing us with towels and extra bedding for the couch, and she even bought some breakfast items for us. Thanks for everything, Jenny!
If is available and you want to be worry free and happy: stop reading and book this place NOW!
Long story: it needs to be split in three, the host, the place and the location
Jenny is fantastic, she was very open and communicative we start to chat since day one of my book and I booked almost two months in advance.
She was always there pending of our trip and given advice.
We even had a video chat the day before our departure form Venezuela. She tracked our fly and knew that our fly was canceled and she sent me a text message to my cellphone to know if we were ok, that has no price.
She wait for us the next day and gave us all the instructions about her place and was always in contact watching over us so we were ok all the time.
as other guest wrote, the bed is "so freaking comfy" that is hard to get up in the morning, I don't know what it has but is fantastic, the kitchen is small but has everything you need to cook and the bathroom is just as if you were at your home, that's the idea of airbnb: travel to your own home.
I've had in NYC before once and I didn't know about Astoria, well I can tell you that Astoria is the place to go when you go to NYC. People should go to Astoria, not Manhattan, and of course if you go to Astoria, stay at Jenny's place because in the case you need to go to Manhattan, the subway station is just a block and a half and the ride is only 15 minutes to the crowded Manhattan.
Jenny's apartment is also a few blocks of the beautiful Astoria Park and surrounded by good restaurants, bakeries and markets, it has everything.
So, if you read all this, just a remained, go ahead and book this place now, don't let it go, it would be a trip to remember for ever.
Jenny was great! Place was clean, in a wonderful location, and she bent over backwards to accommodate my boyfriend and I even while she was not physically present. Thanks very much, Jenny!
