We had huge problems during our stay at this apartment. The apartment is quite nice however we did not have electricity for two of the four nights we spent here. We never met Simona and all communication was through her friend. He continued to advise us that he would fix the electrical problem but did not. No electricity for three days and two nights meant no showers and living by candle light. After leaving we appealed to the host for a partial refund for the days spent without electricity and this was rejected by the host until airbnb mediated the situation. The host was very unsympathetic about what had happened calling it "an inconvenience". As you can imagine we do not recommend staying here.
We loved the place! It's a small, basic, quiet, fifth floor walk-up, well enough equipped for the two of us. Only thing to mention might be the bed, which is a very hard futon which was fine with me (always prefer that to too soft), but that might be a problem for some people.
The flat has a georgeous look over the rooftops of Pigneto, a culturally diverse, young and creative neighbourhood off the tourist tracks. Coming from Berlin-Kreuzberg, we felt right at home and spent most evenings on Via del Pigneto, which is just around the corner with its nicely mixed range of bars, restaurants and take-aways.
Alex who handled the keys and showed us around was genuinely friendly and very flexible -- we had to move around times for the hand-over both times (for unexpected reasons on both ends), but everything went off totally hassle-free.
Thanks for a great time!
I stayed at Simonas place in May 2012. I really enjoyed my stay! The apartment is great and especially the balcony is fantastic. The area is very young and multietnic and there are numerous bars where you can get a drink and an aperitif. It does however take quite some time(app. 35 min) to get to the centre, but it definitely wasnt a problem for me. I didnt meet Simona in person, but communication went very fine! I highly recommend this place!
Very good accommodation!! I stayed here during two weeks and never had any problem. Simona is very friendly and helpful, she mailed all directions to get to the department, as well as tips to know Rome. All we needed was always at home. The only three points that would be not so positive to others, is that the department is on the 10 floor, so are many steps to go up and down, but the reward is a beautiful view from the balcony as well a great light and ventilation. The other point I would criticize, is that the department does not have a place to put your personal stuff, because everything is filled with things of the tenant, the good news is that this place is super-equipped, everything you need you'll find in the department, an it has a very nice energy, I loved to find Buddhist images there. The last point to consider is that the department is not so close to the center of the city, for that reason you will transported by bus, every day, the best thing is that this is not a turist area, which are so much more economical, the corner market of the department is very cheap, with prices that you can not get in the center of Rome.
Funky apartment located a bit outside of central Rome. Although you feel like you're sleeping over at someone else's place (since all their clothes are hung up, pictures, etc), the place is still nice and livable. The highlight? The wrap-around balcony that displays a great view due East and due North. This place is warm, fairly large, and at the price, is a bargain too. Unfortunately, you're on the 10th floor though. The location has its ups-and-downs. If you're coming to Rome to do your tourist routine, you're going to need to take the 5/14 tram to Termini Station (15 minutes) and then take a Metro into the city center. If you're here to find cool restaurants, eclectic neighborhoods, and live amongst the people (like me), then you'll like this area. There's a nice market everyday (similar to a Farmer's Market) right around the corner — and the kitchen you have is perfect to whip some quick meals with all that food you just got. The biggest negative: the bed. It's a rock. Overall, it's a great place if you're going on a budget and don't mind learning the public transportation system to get around Rome.
Simona's flat was just what we needed to be comfortable in Rome. We loved having to ability to make our own meals, there are also some excellent restaurants and bars within 200m of the building. The buses into the main station and the tourist sights were close and frequent, the flat was clean and comfortable and the view from the wrap-around balcony was just what we needed to relax at the the end of each long day...with a glass or three of wine, of course :). We would definitely stay here again if we return to Rome.
Simona's apartment was very nice, hidden in a quiet area of Rome. It was clean and had a beautiful view over the city. There was a market every morning which was great and the bus was close by. I would highly recommend it!
The apartment was clean, quiet and secure. Nicely updated bathroom and shower. There are some great restaurants nearby and an active nightlife.
