Brigid and her husband were very friendly and helpful. The cottage itself is a great little spot, a quiet place with all the necessary amenities for shorter and longer stays and ideal for exploring Clonakilty and the surrounding areas.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating and we only ended up stayed one night. Our hosts did try to alleviate the issue by providing us with a heater but we decided to leave the next day. Brigid kindly refunded us.
We had a lovely stay in Brigid's - it's a sweet little house for a couple, and so quiet there but still only 10 mins walk into town.
I was worried it might be a little cold but the heating was great - half an hour had the place nicely warmed up, so it was handy to set the timer knowing we'd arrive home late in the night.
Brigid herself was away during our stay but made sure we were ok with directions and her son showed us in when we arrived.
The apartment was very nice and just up the hill from town. It was cozy and quite roomy! All of the amenities.
Brigid was really easy to get in touch with before hand and kindly passed on contact numbers for her husband and son as she wasn't going to be around when we checked in. Bread, butter and milk for tea were left for us which such a lovely touch. the cottage itself was perfect for our short stay, and only 10 mins downhill walk to Clonakilty.
Wow , what a wonderful town full of beautiful friendly people/
Tom was very welcoming and helpful ,couldnt do enough for myself and my daughter ,lovely little cottage .
Many thanks cannot wait to go back next year.
Thank you Tom kindess regards Suzanne
Our stay here was amazing. We absolutely loved the cottage and wished we could have stayed much longer. Definitely, one of our favorite spots on our trip. Tom was a warm and friendly host who made us feel very welcome. If we ever travel back to Ireland, we will be sure to try and book this location again. Thank you for your hospitality.
The hosts made us feel very welcome and the apartment was perfect for our one night stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Brigid's cottage. Brigid is a brilliant hostess. The little cottage is great, if you are cold the cottage will heat within 10 minutes and stays really cosy. There is a network cable if you want to get on the internet so bring your laptop. There is a fully fitted kitchen with a washing machine so you can cook to your hearts content. I loved the walk into Clonakilty and I didn't even mind coming back up the hill although get a taxi if it's a wet auld night! You won't mind after a few pints in DeBarras!
Lovely quiet area. Good accommodation for two people. Fully kitted out kitchen. Clean and tidy.
Near enough to Clonakilty altho we would recommend hiring a car as the hill leading to the apartment was longer and steeper than we anticipated and after the third trip in one day travelling up it, decided enough was enough and went to cork to get some transport. Having some transport greatly opens up the area for exploration seeing all the fantastic beaches, harbours, villages and towns. There is a 2hourly bus service to and from cork.
As far as we could tell there was only one bus service which would not have been enough to fully enjoy visiting this area.
Clonakilty is a great place to visit. Very friendly people, fantastic food (altho a little bit pricey eating out, lidl is available as is a supervalu which are both within walking distance for cooking in), great market and a lot going on in the evening.
Would recommend and would visit again.
John and Lucy.
Very considerate house guest. Was a pleasure to host.
My wonderful mum has a lovely little cottage in her back garden in Clonakilty and quite regularly attracts stray kitties into her home. The cats stay in the main house so don't worry if you are allergic!
If you stay in the cottage in Clonakilty you will find the location isbeautiful (sea views) and that my mum and co will be friendly and helpful and be able to give you some great local advice on which beautiful beaches, tarditional music sessions and restaurants to go to, as well as local happenings and events that you wouldn't normally hear about!
I've known Brigid for years, she participated in my writing workshops and then frequently house-sat for us, taking care of our feisty cat, Ronan and looking after the garden. She always left the place in better shape than when we left it and I am sure she'd be a superlative Airbnb host!
