I love her apartment, best location in New York City!! I'd stay there again anytime I'm in town :-)
Great place to stay! I loved the neighborhood!
Stayed one night - no problems - friendly host - good location
I was in the city for a few days, and it was a great place to stay. The room itself was small, but didn't really need that much space anyway since it was only a place to crash for me. There were some troubles receiving the key to the place because Anna was out of town, but we were able to arrange it eventually. Overall, it was a good experience for a short trip to the city.
Anna was out of the country, but did provide her roommate contact who I met at the flat and was given the tour and keys. Anna checked in on a daily basis to see how things were going. It was my first time to N.Y. the location was ideal, on my last day I walked from the flat all the way down 6th Ave. to Central Park it the weather was wonderful it was a complete dream experience! I was out the whole time exploring it was just nice to budget lodging with Airbnb for a place to have to refresh and sleep.
Anna was a grest host and very comprehensive. The apartment is small, but the room is great and worked for me. She also has 2 cats, but they are very polite and if you dont want them at the room, just close the door. The location is perfect, quick walk to the subway and a lot of restaurants around.
I was initially excited to stay here, due to the positive reviews and warm reception by Anna.
However, my stay here was not too pleasant. It took me forever to get a response on where to get my key and had to meet her roommate at work where the roommate ignored me for 10 minutes. Her roommate originally said I needed to return the keys at 1 am, then while I was at dinner, texted me that she wanted them at 11 pm, screwing up my whole night. To Anna's credit, she did give me a $15 deduction to make up for it and offered me a second night free stay.
The apartment itself left much to be desired. The lock on the main entrance was broken, which obviously is dangerous of NY. The unit smelled as if the cats' litter box had not been changed in four weeks. The bed was not made. The poor cats' water bowl was empty. There was a note with a request not to throw toilet paper in the toilet, which is disgusting.
Again I think this was a very nice place to stay in the past and could be again, but obviously there's need for improvement.
The room was very cozy and clean. Anna wasn't in town, but she was very attentive and made sure that everything was ok. But I have to say that the apartment smelled like cat poop, the kitchen was dirty as well as the shower. But beside that I had a nice time.
Anna could not have done more to get me into her place during the chaos of "Snowmaggedon" that affected my schedule. Her place is located in a great neighborhood full of restaurants and bars, and quick access to the many subways. Her apartment, like most others in the area, are small, with bedrooms the size of suburban closets. Note that she has two cats.
The bedroom is interior to the building so quiet, and you can raise the window a bit to get fresh air if you want (I did). The toilet and shower are separate, but cramped - again, typical for the area. Her placed was close to where I needed to be early next morning, and since I had a good idea of what other places in the area looked like, I had no issues and got a good nights sleep.
Anna was not in town, and unfortunately I did not get to meet her. However, she left thorough instructions and was prompt in making certain to respond to questions, even from a different time zone! She also left information for a more local contact, whom I also did not meet, but who was helpful via text messaging with my initial confusion as to exactly which room I was supposed to take! Keycafe was convenient and worked without any issue, as well. I would definitely let Anna know next time I need a basic room to stay in for the weekend!
Très sympathique !
Lovely guest. Friendly, polite and clean. Would happily host again.
Anna and her family were superb guest to host. Tidy clean and super friendly. Will recommend and welcome back anytime. Thank you.
sorry ms Phillips did not show up for their stay
It was not without notice! We called Ana to let them know we'd had an emergency and would no longer be staying there. The money was still withdrawn; Not the worst deal to exist. Sorry to inconvenience though.
I was recently referred to Anna through a mutual friend while I was looking for a place to stay between apartments in NYC. Anna is exactly the type of host that a traveller, or even a new local like myself, needs in the city. She regularly invited me out with her friends, even introducing me to some fellow Australians here. Since moving into my new apartment I have even met up with Anna and her social circle a couple of times, who are all equally warm and inviting as her.
My room in the apartment was clean and cozy, and Anna was very attentive in making sure I was comfortable. The apartment itself is in the heart of the West Village, with an abundance of choices for food, drink and entertainment at the doorstep. Washington Square Park is just around the corner and is the perfect people-watching venue! It's also a short walk to public transportation to see other areas of the city.
Anybody looking to enrich their experience in NYC would definitely benefit from staying with Anna!
Where to start with Anna?!
Back before airBnB and before her move to New York Anna used to be a couch surfing host. For the unfamiliar this is essentially a good will accommodation network. A host offers their couch/spare room and expects nothing in return. I stayed with Anna as a young traveller making my way down the west coast and was blown away by her hospitality.
Anna is a confident young woman in her element as a host, she went to great lengths to make me feel at home while I stayed with her. She's both social and attentive, I tagged along on some of her nights out and she gave me all the information I needed to go out on my own adventures. Always busy, always smiling, every bit living the American dream with no signs of slowing down I can think of no better guide through the hectic world of NYC.
Her apartment in California was just the right amount of 'lived-in', I recently saw her pad in New York and whilst it's smaller I'm happy to say it has the same warmth. It's a shame New York is so expensive, I'm sure otherwise Anna would open her doors without cost. For accommodation with a real human connection you should look no further than this woman.
Highly recommended! See you again soon Anna!
