The place was really great and only several minutes away from the Wildcat mountain. I wish we could have stayed a bit longer and enjoyed other activities such as hiking.
Keys were taped to door upon arrival For easy access. Although this house is very spacious, we were unhappy with our stay for various reasons. We would not go back.
Very clean, quiet and cozy. It should be noted that the hot tub is in view of the road and another residence in Winter when there is no foliage. We wished we had planned better and turned the temp up on it when we arrived so that it would be hot in the evening. Overall a comfortable stay for two people.
We had a great stay at the Isacc Merril house in the Jacuzzi room. The room was large with the promised jetted tub, a huge bed, flat screen TV and a fireplace. This room was a behind the main house and had its own private entrance. Our host was polite and attentive and the made to order breakfast was delicious. A great stay, and a great value for the room in this area. Highly recommended.
Great little cabin near Wildcat and Great Glen.
Only a kitchenette, but pretty good restaurants nearby.
Hot tub in pic is not accurate, but current hot tub is nice.
We were there in super low temps, and stayed nice and warm both in the house and in the hot tub. Fireplace is auto propane connected to thermostat.
Super easy to pick up keys.
This place was absolutely PERFECT for what we needed. It was a quaint cabin in the middle of the woods. The hot tub was amazing - super clean and well-kept. The house was clean...just perfect all-around. Richard responded very quickly and scheduling the key pick-up was a breeze. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway.
Excellent cabin!!! Exactly as described And larger than appears in picture! Everything you need for a romantic inimate White Mountain weekend!
My stay here was just a brief single night, and the central location is great - close to skiing, shopping, and lots of dining choices. It's clear that the inn keeper is very eager and conscientious, but the ambiance and upkeep of the room I got fell a bit short of the description. It wasn't the same room represented by the one interior photo on this listing - it was much smaller and less up-to-date, and may have been a more comfortable buy at just half the listed price.
Having not seen the other rooms on offer, I won't assume the room I had was exemplary of the whole property; the common areas were beautifully decorated and cozy. I was offered wine and cheese upon arrival. The included to-order breakfast looked appetizing but I had an early start so didn't have time to stay to sample it.
I would be inclined to be so much more forgiving if this was a private listing, but given that it's a business, I feel it's only fair to share the disappointment that someone paying this price at an established inn should be aware of. Compared to the gorgeous, period-perfect common areas, the room I was given seemed like it was decorated with thrifted furniture as an afterthought. Given the rates being charged for this property, I hope the ownership will consider investing in updated mattress/bedding and please, sheets the right size for the bed.
Overall, it was clean and very friendly, and I'd consider it again (as is) for a much lower price.
Richard was always available, and had instant help for any question I had. When I couldn't get the internet to work upon arrival, he had one of his helpers come to fix it within minutes of my texting.
The unit was spotless, and toasty warm. It had everything that I needed for my weekend getaway. I wanted to cross country ski and come back to work on my projects undistracted. The unit is actually ON part of the Jackson XC trail system, but there wasn't enough snow on this part to be groomed, so I did drive aonly 10 minutes to get to the main ski lodge.
The unit is great. I had everything I needed. After skiing all day, it was a lovely cozy place to hang out. That said, for those who are looking for elegance at $220/night, be aware- you're not going to find a large luxury oriented unit. The kitchen is not full-there is no stove. Fortunately, I had brought all my food with me, all stuff that was easily microwavable.
However, you WILL find that the private hot tub (and I mean HOT!) is worth the price of admission. Being able to just come back to that tub outside, at sunset, overlooking a forest of birch trees, after a full day of skiing was about as close to heaven as it got. A quiet, WARM, comfortable clean unit, with a lovely upstairs bedroom (and an interesting little cupboard attached bedroom), wicked strong internet, close to Jackson, Wildcat, and Mt. Washington.
We had an amazing, relaxing trip... Just what we asked for! The morning of our trip, I received a message from Richard saying there was a small private cabin in Jackson that was available and if interested it was ours. So glad we did! Between the clean, cozy, up to date cabin and not to mention the outdoor jacuzzi...this is where we will be staying every time we come back up North!
