Amazing. First of all, you need to know that this apartment is a little different from rest. It's not remodeled stark white or filled with Ikea furniture. Instead, it feels old and filled with character — but in the best kind of way. Toni's left many of the original fixtures and tastefully decorated the space with vintage furniture, paintings, and maps. It has a distinctly local feel, perfect for anyone who simply wants to blend in and soak up the culture of this beautiful city.
Everything else you'd expect of a reputable Airbnb listing is true with Toni's listing. Toni personally met me outside, helped me up a few flights of stairs, and explained everything. He left me beers in the fridge and even offered me to borrow his bicycle. The space itself is surprisingly large and filled with light. There's also a work desk, small library, and even an amped stereo with headphone jack for your phone/tablet.
Couple things to note:
- Like many of the flats in Barcelona, the shower is small and hot water is limited to about 10 min (i take long showers)
- Stairs and walls leading up to the apartment are very scuffed up and dirty, but the building is very secure
- Don't drink the tap water (anywhere in Barcelona), buy bottles. Toni left a couple gallons for me.
- Couple blocks away, there's an excellent little French cafe called En Aparte, they serve a nice brunch on the weekends
I'd definitely come back and recommend this apartment. Good luck and safe travels!
Toni's flat is gorgeous. A nice, spacious apartment with beautiful tile work, right at the edge of the old town. I love the balcony windows and all the vintage posters. It's proximity to the Arc de Triomf metro made it easy to get around. I'd happily stay again.
Toni was an excellent host providing detailed directions to get to the place and recommendations through the week.
Très bon accueil, appartement très agréable et fidèle à la description
Me and my boyfriend stayed one week at Toni's place and had the best vacation ever! Toni was the perfect host, and sent us the directions on a map before we arrived. He also told us about the neighborhood, some great restaurants and some current events in the city, and even had some cold beer in the fridge.
The apartment was surprisingly big and light. Fantastic windows from floor to ceiling, a really nice bedroom with a great fan above the bed, and a full equipped kitchen. The hole apartment is extremely cool and stylish, and you can tell that Toni has a big interest in internal design and vintage stuff. We could really not ask for anything more, this apartment is a dream. The perfect Barcelona experience.
Toni's apartment was fantastic! The pictures don't do justice to this place. It's much bigger than it looks. While there is no balcony to speak of, the french doors really open up the living room, and make it feel like a semi-exterior space. Given how wonderful the weather was when we were in Barcelona (late June, 70s or low 80s and sunny most days, 60s at night (Fahrenheit -- I think it translates to mid-20s Celsius), this was great. The location is fantastic, being right on the edge of some of the older parts of town, and just a couple blocks from several metro lines. Most of the apartments we found in Barcelona at this price range felt like a compromise between comfort, style, and size. With Toni's apartment, there was no compromise.
Cons: The apartment is supposedly on the "second floor," but you have to go up three flights of stairs and seventy-three steps to get there (no elevator)! It didn't detract from our enjoyment of the apartment at all, but it's worth mentioning. The neighbor is an opera singer, and you can hear him practicing, but he was very respectful about only practicing in the early evening. Actually, that was more of a pro than a con for us.
Toni was a great host, very accommodating and easy to communicate with, he gave us indications to get to the flat and even left some drinks in the fridge for us.
The flat is exactly as described and very charming, a lot of space, original features such as the tiling was really nice and the decoration is very tasteful.
The view is especially nice, very open on a nice set of buildings, the fact that it is almost only windows makes the front room full of light and very pleasant to relax in.
Finally the location is ideal because you can get to the old town in a few minutes and the most important metro lines are a couple of minutes away by foot. also there is a nice area just around the corner with nice restaurants and bar on pretty little square.
Altogether a really nice experience, I recommend Toni's place warmly!
