We had a great time at Ban Sabai Sabai, especially our sons, 11 and 14 loved the experience. They enjoyed the swimming trips to the river and Stuart helped us organise two fantastic day tours; with the kayak trip on the river Kwai definitely one of the highlights. Despite being 'out of the way' we had no trouble seeing what we came for and gained the small village experience. The hospitality was outstanding, the food good (and tailored to our needs), the guesthouse gorgeous, what more do you want... (Unless you are looking for 5 star upmarket, then this is not for you.) We certainly will remember this as the highlight of our vacation.
I ended up not staying there as I changed my plans at the last minute, but Stuart was very helpful and we had a few emails exchanged
Stuart was great, very helpful and his Sunday BBQ was amazing! Does excellent gardening so the area is beautiful to wander around and look at.
We enjoyed our stay at Ban Sabai Sabai very much. Stylish room, great food, nice swimming in the river nearby, Stuart organized all our trips. Thanks for a very pleasant stay!
Stuart is a terrific host. He offered good advice about how to spend the weekend in Kanchanaburi and obligingly helped us make arrangements for ground transport, kayak rental, and massages; he made us feel welcome and at home, serving us a late dinner upon our arrival, offering a simple but pleasant breakfast in the mornings, and sharing wine and good stories at the lovely table at the edge of his garden. His chef prepares really first rate Thai dishes, and Stuart's Sunday BBQ was also good. As for Ban Sabai Sabai itself, the place is rustic, but comfortable; and though our room's decor was a bit chintzy, it was cool, reasonably clean, and certainly a good value at $25/night.
We were due to stay with Stuart but owing to a few issues we ended up not going but hope to be back one day.
