Nice place. Very basic. Good price and location if you keep it simple.
I hate giving bad reviews, but I definitely don't want other people to have to deal with what we dealt with during our vacation. In Guillermo's defense, we booked our reservation the day before, so maybe he didn't have time to get ready? But he has yet to respond to my emails with my complaints, so I feel compelled to list them here. 1) We had trouble getting the address from Guillermo. He didn't list it on his page or email it to us until we asked several times. This was problematic since international data/calls are pricey on our cell phones and we were relying on the wifi from our previous AirBNB hosts, so we wasted some money/time continually checking our phones while on the road for a response from him. 2) We got to the room, and it was covered in ants and 3) smelled bad. The smelly culprit was a very dirty litter box and a pile of well-used shoes left by the door. We moved the shoes outside but the smell stuck around. 4) There was also only 1 pillow for the two of us on the bed, and 5) towels hanging on the shower door. (Were they clean and for us? Used and dirty? Who knows?) 6) There was also a sliding door from the closet that had fallen on the floor, taking up a good portion of the small apartment. 7) Plus, we had to keep the back door open so the cat could access its litter box throughout the night. Not so great for mosquitoes/heat. 8) Plus, we paid $55 for this place! We were so disappointed, we left and got a room at a hotel for $40 that was much bigger, smelled immensely better, had a pool, two beds, plenty of pillows, and a friendly concierge.
Do yourself a favor and stick with the professionals in Valladolid. (Thanks, AirBNB, for giving us a refund after this experience!)
How disastrous experience!
Egnogra never presented, we had to fold in the last minute of a hostel!
any lack of seriousness!
Incredible experience thanks to Maya, she saved our night in the jungle! It was good to feel like human and not tourist.
Don't expect to have the amenities checked on the website though. Don't forget a mattress and food too! If you rent a car, don't even try to take the road which bring you to the site, they hopefully gonna work on it soon. I wish I would have been a little bit more informed about these details. Fortunately Maya made that night amazing, thanks to her knowledge, her sensitivity and her "osmosis" with Nature.
Thank you sooo much Maya, we will never forget our "jungle night".
We lived an interesting experience. A special thank you to Maya who was very welcoming and with whom we shared unforgettable moments.
We saw the very beginning of the construction of this Eco retreat: everything was to be done, they were building earth houses. The camp consisted only of some tents, a kitchen - basically a fire and some kitchen utensils and dishware, a shower - bag of water, ecological toilet - a hole in the ground surmounted by a wooden construction to sit on and of a small tent.
We thus slept in a tent. At night, I was afraid because there were only 3 of us : Maya, my friend and I. As I said it was just the begining of the retreat. It was an adventure....
