I grew up in the Bay Area, attended UC Berkeley and lived overseas in Australia and NZ for almost 18 months in 1993/94...passionate about the ocean, animals, surfing, music, traveling and being active. Though I do also enjoy a weekend am to sleep in and hang out with my dogs in my pjs :)
I discoverd surfing in my 30's and it is my absolute favorite past time...i hope to own a condo in Santa Cruz area within the next few years.
I am the Fitness Director at the Claremont Club / Hotel in Berkeley, Ca, where I have worked as a Somatics trainer and class instructor for 18 years.
I am a huge Barbara Kingsolver fan and her book The Poisonwood Bible inspired me to spend my 40th birthday volunteering in Africa to help an organization called EHRA working to protect the desert Elephants in Namibia. I built a wall out of stone and sand for 7 days in about 115 degree heat...hardest thing I've ever done...but for sure one of the best.
5 Things that would be hard to live without: My sight, because then I couldn't surf; my doggies, living in a fair weather area, music, and the love of friends and family.
My style of travel is a blend of "back packer meets mid 40's and likes to be a bit more comfortable these days" :) Not much of a resort person, though I do work at one.
Favorite travel destinations: Zanzibar, Croatia, Canadian Rockies, various parts of Europe in the summer of 1991 (the best summer of my life), and Coogee Australia where I lived for 5 months. Sayulita Mexico also holds a special place in my heart...though it has changed a lot since my first visit 10 years ago.
Life Motto: Trust. Even during the difficult times...my life is still a picnic compared to 99% of people on the planet.
I am a fun guest...I love people and to travel and I have enjoyed my experiences on Air B n B so far. Someday I hope to be a host as well!
