I booked this place for my parents who were visiting from out of town. The location was perfect - a quiet, tree-lined street only blocks away from everything Brooklyn Heights has to offer (Brooklyn Bridge Park, Promenade, Atlantic Ave, Montague, etc). The studio, in a beautiful walk-up building, had everything they needed and was very clean. Chris was always available and easy to communicate with.
This apartment is on a quiet, leafy street in Brooklyn. The apartment is funky, cool and simple - exactly what I expected. It's small, but perfect for one person. Chris met me on his way out and told me everything I needed to know and was very responsive by text.
I would highly recommend this space. It was clean, well maintained and there's laundry in the building. What more could a weary traveler ask for? Chris is a great guy and I only regret that our schedules did not overlap more.
The subway is a bit of a walk from the apartment, but it is a really nice walk with sprinkling of delis, restaurants, and even a good coffee shop along the way to make things more interesting.
I would highly recommend staying here.
This is a real New York experience! The loft is in a quiet part of Brooklyn, but not too far from food and drink. The loft is comfortable, clean, and full of character. The style is "Hemingway meets Brooklyn." The bedroom is small, but not unreasonably so as this is New York. Chris is a considerate host, and I would stay here again.
The room is so cosy and the view out of its window is unbeatable: the Skyline of Manhatten.
Chris cares for his guests and gives you all the information you need in order to handle the daily life as a tourist in NYC.
The room and the flat are clean, you´ve got everything you need and Chris even buys things (e.g. a new hair dryer) if required.
I really enjoyed my time at Chris´ home.
The stay with Chris was great. He took my last minute reservation and was a terrific host. The bedroom was great and very clean. Great views and a quiet part of Brooklyn. Tons of great conversations and advice about the neighborhood. I am definitely coming back to Chris's next time im in NY. Highly recommended.
We stayed in this Loft on a reccomendation from a friend, but things have changed substantially since then. The room for rent is different, and now exists under the main stairwell of the building, meaning you hear absolutely everyone who uses the stairs stomping above your bed (the bed was placed under the stairwell when we stayed here). When I booked my reservation, the title of this listing was "Quiet Loft Room with City View". It was not quiet at all, and we were awoken at least twice a night with people running up and down the stairs above my bed.
A television with apple TV was advertised in the listing, which were present in the room, but there were no remotes to be found, so they were unuseable. From the new photos that have been posted, it looks like they have been replaced in the room.
The bed was fine and clean, the room was tidy (would be nice if there were somewhere to store or hang your clothes), the bathroom was fairly clean. The subway station is at least a 10 min walk, but it is a very nice walk and there is a beautiful park nearby. Some great breakfast places by the Nassau Ave Subway station - Lokal and Five Leaves.
Here's where my review goes from decent to awful. On our fourth night, we went to bed early (11:30) as we had to get up fairly early for an event the next morning. Around 1:00am, we heard a large group of people come in to the apartment, music was turned on, and some sort of a party started taking place. About 2 minutes later, someone walked straight into our room where we were sleeping (no knocking, and there is no lock on the door). This may not seem too bad but when you are in an apartment full of strangers partying and you pay for a PRIVATE room, it is very unnerving to have someone walk into your room. I heard someone yell "are they in there?" and the person who came into our room said "yeah" and shut the door. They continued to be loud until I eventually texted Chris to ask if he could keep it down. They left about half an hour after that.
The next day I awoke to a letter outside of our door that Chris had written, apologizing for the disruption and giving us information for the cab company to get to the airport. I found this a bit strange because we had booked the room until the next day, so I texted Chris to let him know that we would be leaving the following day, not today. I received a response telling me that we could not stay in the room as he had someone coming in that night and we had to be out as soon as possible so he could clean, and that we needed to find another place to stay! This was very aggravating as we were on our way to Manhattan and had to find free wifi so I could find my reservation e-mail to PROVE to Chris that we had the room booked for that night. Once I sent him that, he apologised and said that he had misread his calendar.
I am fairly sure that our experience was pretty rare, but it has left a sour taste in my mouth with airbnb. Would have saved me a lot of stress if we had just coughed up an extra $20 per night to stay in a hotel room.
The bed was wonderful and the view from the apartment to Manhattan is incredible, specially at night. Everything was as Chris describes it, which in our case was very important as this was our fist time with airbnb. The apartment was, clean, the shower great! Chris is a very respectful and reliable host.
Chris was friendly when we arrived. The place was clean & had a great decor. The view was very nice from the all windows. Unfortunately we did not get a quiet loft room. The room was located underneath the main stairwell of the building. Making it impossible to get a good nights sleep with the pounding of feet going up and down the stairs along with the occasional chit chatter. If you're a heavy sleeper then you'll have no problem.
Brilliant flat, I came with 4 friends we all enjoyed it very much and would definitely come back to this place if we had to come again.
Chris was very nice!
Chris is a polite, private, independent and tidy person who left everything in tip top shape. He was immersed in Sxsw activities and came and went in a very quiet way. As a host, I can highly recommend him as a guest.
Chris was a great guest, friendly, tidy and considerate and communication was easy from the first contact. Welcome back anytime. Thanks Chris!
Chris is a very nice person to have as a guest! He is so much easy going, open minded and cool guy. Polite and respectful, he interacts and talks to each one without being intrusive. I recommend because I really loved to host him!
I did not have an opportunity to meet Chris because I was out of town much of the weekend, but he was great to work with in making and confirming reservations, and he left everything in top shape in the apartment--could barely tell he had been there. He took the train down to Charlottesville and was very cooperative about checking in on his own. The next-door tenant enjoyed meeting and talking with Chris. I hope he had an enjoyable weekend and is very welcome to return any time he is in town.
Nice and Neat Guys! The Flat was in perfect condition when we checked them out, and we would definitely be Happy to have them as return Guests.
