Non-natives (from Pittsburgh and the SF bay area), who love the city, any city, but especially cities that have retained the story of their settling in their architecture and culture.... St. Louis in spades.
Jeff works for the federal government and rides his bike to the office. I have my studio at home for my company, Ideal Garment, through which I design and make clothing, and write about all that and other stuff, too.
We do have 3 dogs, and they are in the house and the yard. Very companionable and all the security a girl could want. The guest room, however, is off-limits to them, animal free at all times.
Our diverse little neighborhood is adjacent to or not far from most of the historic neighborhoods that have dragged themselves out of mid-century squalor. Urban revival is one rough passion in the midwest. Guests have stayed with us and attended conferences downtown, and we are even closer to Soulard and Benton Park.
Our own neighborhood hosts the edgy edge of the art and music scene for the city... visit Cherokee street if you have a chance, but not on Monday or Tuesday... still hibernating.
Cheers, and happy trails to you wherever you wander.
