The hipsters of Yangon! Thank you for making me feel welcome in a neighborhood that I wouldn't have visited otherwise. I was weary by the end of my stay though (a few nights of interrupted sleep). I'd say that staying here is for the young and energetic - under 30s club? :-)
Places like this are the kind of reason Air BnB exists. Not a hotel-style operation, but a spare bed (well, perfectly comfortable futon) for the night or two, with a great bunch of locals, always ready with handy tips and happy to invite you along too when they go out.
Don't be put off by the slightly gloomy-looking photos. Most normal apartments in Yangon don't exactly go for huge windows -- something you'll also be grateful for if it's 40C outside! The bed and the room you are perfectly clean and comfortable.
Very much recommended.
Jacob, Jaiden, and Josh were extremely helpful. They were more than happy to explain how things worked in Yangon and Myanmar. Jaiden is also an accomplished violinist who provided lovely evening ambiance. Josh is probably the single best juggler I've ever seen and he won't mind showing off his skills. Jacob as it turns out has the largest collection of ninja stars in the world. Great guys and hopefully our paths will cross again.
Great time, with great people. Thanks for having me!
Merci Jacob et ses colloc pour ce petit séjour à Yangon où je me suis senti comme chez moi..
Had a really nice stay with the three guys here. Their apartment is quite nice and they will make you feel at home.
They also will take you out with them at night, so you're sure to have a fun night and meet lots of cool expats that can give you info on the country.
Definitely expect to party with these boys. When they say active social life they mean they are up late and getting loud! As long as you're down for that, this is a great cheap option to stay in Yangon. The immediate neighborhood definitely
gives you the experience of being in a developing country, with endless street vendors in back streets you can easily get lost in. It's a vibrant interesting area, but don't expect to find wifi anywhere or many people who speak English. I would come back to stay and spend more time to get around to see more of the city. Overall recommend the experience!
Jacob was a great host. He welcomed us, gave good recommendations and joined us for a few meals and drinks. Place was as advertised. If you're looking for a central spot to stay in Yangon and get some local knowledge, it's a good choice.
The flat is a great spot and great value for money. The host was great help to get us started for our travels. Great to see how people live in Myanmar. Definitely recommend!
