After departing Melinda's place on June 8th, I called Airbnb to let them know the situation. I did not text Melinda asking for $84, I submitted a refund request via the Airbnb message system for the night we elected not to stay.
As for being concerned about my health, Melinda suggested I take a medicine to deal with allergies. I didn't feel that was a viable solution and felt that the cat situation was misrepresented. I have stayed at many Airbnb places around the world and have never had any issues.
As for the "sudden exit," I was uncomfortable due to allergies and eager to find a hotel so we could see San Diego (we only had one day).
