Love to travel the world BUT I always come back home to NYC. Home is where the heart is!!!!!!!
If you are looking for an almost vacant apartment with a futon a small kitchen, a tiny bathroom and running water this is the place for you.
On the day we arrived, upon entering the apartment we immediately realized this was not what we were expecting. We contacted the owner she was not available so she sent her partner Dover to discusss our concerns with us.
When we expressed our concerns to Dover about the lack of an actual bed a dresser and window coverings. Dover said that as Americans we are somewhat spoiled, which I didn't feel asking for an actual bed was a sign of being spoiled, my husband is 6'6" and weighs 260lbs, so sleeping on a futon for him is not the ideal sleeping accommodations. He stated that most of the past guest were European and were accustomed to living in sparse conditions and had no complaints about living out of a suitcase. We also expressed our concerns about not having a TV and once again we were met with the defense that most people come to see the sights, and while that may be true, some people enjoy being able to watch the news, not to mention that we had several days of weather which prohibited us from going out. so instead we were left to stay inside all day and look at four walls or venture out to a relatives house so that we would be able to at least watch some TV. We decided to try and tough it out, needless to say that was a mistatke, my husband nor myself got a goods night sleep the entire week.
There were 2 nights that there was no heat in the apartment, so we pretty much froze (we tried reaching Diamond but there was no response). One night we came home and there were roaches on the floor, (we tried contacting Diamond once again no response).
On the last night of our stay, they were having a party and there were children running, screaming and laughing till past 2:00am, needless to say we did not get any sleep that night.
I would not reccommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for the basic comforts,(ie a rgular bed, a dresser and heat) it is simply a place to lay your head.
Next time I will do more research!
Diamond was a great host. The apartment was big, bright and clean. It's location is very convenient for heading into Manhattan as described. It's also just great for hanging back and exploring the neighborhood. The apartment works well as a place to crash and recharge. I agree with all the "sparse" comments but sometimes that is better when traveling with kids. Less things to break. Overall, it was a great stay.
the location was great - subways, restaurants and shops are all within a 5-10 leisurely stroll. the apartment is spacious with a very large bedroom, kitchen and living space. the bath is large and beautifully decorated. all is good but could use a couple of reading lamps and a comfortable chair or two. but then again, who wants to spend a lot time staying in any apartment when there are so many exciting things to do - and you don't even have to leave brooklyn.
The space was clean and conveniently located, although very sparsely furnished inside, definitely no bells and whistles. All in all it was a decent experience, and given other rentals that are out there for the same price, I think it was a good deal.
Lot of space, little furniture. It is just to sleep.
Perfectly placed. Several subway 5 minutes walk or less. The calm of a beautiful neighborhoods of Brooklyn at just a few minutes of Manhattan.
You enter through a common door with the owner. All the upper floor is yours. It is divided into three parts:
- Lounge / kitchen with sofa / bed
- A large room
Each of these rooms faces the stairs leading down to the owner space. There is not a real entry door just for the apartment you rent. This is the only inconveniant.
I definitely recommend.
Clean and convenient.
Our stay at Diamond's brownstone in Brooklyn was great. We had the whole floor completely to ourselves. The interior was completely modern and appeared to have been recently remodeled. Easy walking distance to plenty of bars and restaurants. Whenever we wanted to leave the neighborhood, there was a subway station just a few blocks away. Diamond was very accessible. If I needed anything she was only a phone call or text message away. Very accommodating. I would most definitely recommend. This is a steal!
This is a surprisingly spacious apartment in a really great location.
It's a little sparse though: there's a bed and not much else. The lack of curtains could be troublesome if you're planning to have a lie in.
But it's clean, quiet, and has an excellent kitchen. And like I said, the location is great: a leafy Brooklyn street close to all the action but still quiet at night.
I wouldn't recommend this place although it's very convenient to transportation. The accommodations were very dirty, and poorly maintained. The advertised internet was not available (due to owners unpaid bill) and never resolved during my stay.Imagine a rundown frat house, with beer bottles, hair left in bathroom tub and a roach or two, that pretty much paints an accurate picture of this place.
Our host was helpful when it comes to giving information and answering our questions. Due to some problems in the subway, we arrived late but our host understood.
The apartment is quite similar to a hostel. One remark is that there is one bathroom (incl. a toilet) for all guests, which is not always convenient. Overall, the place could use some cleaning (bath, hallway)... The room itself was okay, though! If you want, you can lock it.
Although nothing happened, for some reason we did not feel very welcome in this neighbourhood. As I said, nothing actually happened.
After our first of two nights, we got a last-minute (website hidden) offer from a friend of a friend and preferred to spend the night at their place.
