Erwin and Karina are wonderful hosts! Super friendly, easy to communicate, and they even took me out for a tour and ate with me. I really felt at home after the first day.
Great location about 5 minutes walking to the main square but on a calm, quiet side street. Toilet & shower is the same room, so if that's not something you can deal with, then maybe this isn't for you.
same as other review
The room is spacious, even though a little dark, and very well located : 5 mn from Plaza de Arma and close to restaurants and the San Blas neighbourhood.
The bathroom is not great : very small and cold.
Erwin was not here when we arrived but his girlfriend has been really nice and helpful.
Karina is a great host and a lovely person, location is perfect and for people traveling on a budget its a great choice :) thanks for everything!!!
Karina was a fantastic host and the room was great! The location on the edge of San Blas is superb and only two blocks from the Cusco Plaza De Armas. Awesome time!
Karina was a great hostess and we really enjoyed our stay in her home. We did not meet Erwin since he was away during our time there, but he was extremely helpful via email. The apartment was a part of a larger group of buildings, so if you arrive and knock on the wooden door along the street, they cannot hear you. Better to text/call when you arrive so they can come to let you in. Even though we did designate a meeting time, I had to email via Airbnb to have Karina come down to let us in. She then led us inside and provided hot coca tea and after we got settled, led us around Cusco and gave us a friendly and informal orientation to the city. It was really nice being able to see it from her perspective.
The room is large and is comfortable with a place to sit and organize your things at the end of the day. The beds are just big enough to share if you're traveling with your significant other, or are large by single person status. The sheets slip off if you toss and turn like I do, but otherwise are just fine and warm.
Things to know/plan around if you intend to spend time in Cusco: The water is off every night from around 9pm to midnight. This is out of your host's control as it is a city-wide issue, but something to consider if you are trekking Machu Picchu. Nearly all trek companies will get you back to Cusco at about 8:30 - right in time for the nightly shutoff. The other thing that may or may not be characteristic of Cusco is that the shower water is cold. During our stay it was cold to lukewarm showering, which again could just be the standard for Cusco.
This is a great option and Karina and Erwin were great hosts.
Karinas mother let is in on arrival. We met Karina later that night after she got out of work. She was very sweet and knowledgeable about the city and wrote us a map of all the best places to to eat and see. We even went out one night where she gave us a historical tour, got some pisco sours and ate some amazing anticucho from a street vendor.
The room was nicely furnished and big enough to lay all of our stuff out. The twin beds could of been nicer but it was all we needed for a good sleep. The room was a little cool so she gave is a nice space heater which helped a lot. The water gets turned off at night so you need to plan around that if you take showers at night. It's a shared bathroom so keep that in mind as well. We had access to the kitchen to make breakfast or make tea. Overall it's a good place if you're looking for a big private room for two on a budget.
Like they say great room in a great location, extremely helpful especially with rearranging dates when we couldn't get to Cuzco due to a miners strike. Would recommend for sure!
Karina/Erwin! You are by far the best host we found in all of our stay in Peru. We truly enjoyed our stay with you and will be back for a stay in the future. Your room is neat, clean. centrally located to everything and we can not thank you enough for your flexibility in allowing us to leave our bags safe in your home while we attended our hike. I highly recommend your home to others who are looking for a unforgettable time in Cusco. Thank you again and we hope to welcome you in Hawaii or Alaska one day soon.
Erwin stay went very smooth and quiet. Very respectful guest. Would have him back anytime.
