I live in Oakland, CA, and love it here! But also love to travel, and that's where airbnb comes in. I tend to leave the country at least once a year and enjoy experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. I've studied a few languages, and it's fun to go to places where I can try to use them. Food and drink are also a big part of travel for me, so if I end up staying at your place, I will probably be asking for restaurant recommendations:)
I work for an environmental foundation focused on advancing clean energy policy, and feel lucky to work in a field that I'm passionate about.
I'm very easy-going, and extremely responsible. I treat other people's spaces like I would want guests to treat mine. I get along with just about everyone, and am known for being mellow and staying calm in any situation.
My travel style runs the gamut. My last work sabbatical included time spent in Nepal at VERY basic lodging in the mountains (think outhouses and no electricity) and with local families (while installing solar lighting systems in rural Himalayan towns), time spent at only slightly less basic lodging while volunteering at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, then went the opposite direction with some nights at gorgeous hotels. Safe to say I am adaptable:)
