We enjoy having guests and we take wonderful care of them! We tell our visitors that we think of them as long lost cousins who have finally come to see us. It's fun to have folks who are seeing our beautiful Historic District for the first time.

We had such a fantastic visit to Charleston, S.C. and Vaughan, our hostess, was a vital part of that. Although we'd heard about southern hospitality, we never expected to experience it in this first rate way. Vaughan was kind, warm and incredibly generous with her time & knowledge. On the day of arrival, she drove us all around Charleston pointing out the must-sees and top attractions while relaying a very comprehensive history of the city. Each morning, she made excellent local southern meals for breakfast. We tried grits with salmon, shrimp, bacon, peppers & cheese (not all at once), blueberry muffins, croissants and breakfast salad consisting of apple, walnuts and blueberries. In the evenings, Vaughan generously shared wine and her company while she helped us plan the next days' activities, shared local politics and history. She was well-informed and never intrusive: a real delight. We can't give a better example than to tell you that she babysat our 3 boys, got them pizza and made sure one had a shower, while we parents went off for dinner. And we trusted her completely with them. Oh. Here's another example: she lent us beach chairs, ice boxes and towels with which to head off to the beach.
The house itself is a gem. It's ideally located so we could walk wherever we wanted - though Vaughn did drive us to dinner one night. It's beautifully decorated, clean, filled with antiques from England and the South, very comfortable and just feels like home. Well, not my home. Like a super-clean museum or an antique shop where you are welcome to lounge around and touch things.
Go stay with Vaughn. We are pretty private people but felt amazingly well cared for, and we will now count Vaughn as a friend.
Vaughan's home is in a lovely old neighborhood of Charleston. Her home is beautiful, and we loved staying there. We stayed in the Guest suite and had plenty of space. The only time that we needed to take a cab anywhere was to and from the airport. Vaughan can provide some fantastic recommendations of local businesses/bakeries/transportation options, and that was really helpful. We walked everywhere. It was a mile or so to the most popular restaurant area and the market, but the walk was very quick and all through historic neighborhoods and areas. We loved our stay here, and Vaughan's breakfast on Sunday morning was fantastic!
Vaughan is a lovely host, wonderful person with a beautiful house in a great location. Short walk to everything. Tour by Vaughan when we arrived was a treat. Breakfast every morning delicious.
A superb southern experience .From moment we arrived at Vaughan's lovely home ..it felt just like that"home".We were taken on a tour of the house ,which is in a safe ,convenient historic neighbohood just minutes from all the best Charleston has to offer.
Once settled in our room Vaughan then took us on a delightful tour of the neighborhood and the all the Charleston areas where we might explore whether for food, history, architecture or shopping. She knowledgebly pointed out all the places to see and some not to,as well as acquainting us with the many forms of getting around and how they operated.
Back at the house Vaughan expounded on the story of her historic home as she gave us a verbal as well as pictoral of how after purchasing the home, gutted it,remodeled and restored it ,you can see detail was her passion.
The rooms are large and full of rich traditional southern decor,a mixture of mostly stately antiques and more current pieces to complete the look. Our particular private bedroom with complete sitting room ,TV,and full bath was perfect, and the A/C was kept at delightful levels given the warm ,humid weather.
Breakfast...WOW. Vaughan prepared and elegantly presented wonderful ,substantial southern fare with flair. The coffee was superb,as well.Additionally ,her home was stocked with yogurt and fruit as a substitute if you were choosing to watch your waistline.
This was our first experience with Airbnb,we chose randomly from the website (after a friend recommeded it to me),based on this experience if this is the quality ,caliber and value of all Airbnb rentals we will absolutely check out Airbnb first for our next travel experience, and if we return to Charleston I'm sure you can guess where my wife and I will be staying.

We had a terrific stay in Vaughan's place. Our lodgings were neatly appointed, spacious, and comfortable; the location is unbeatable—a quiet, historic street, but mere minutes' walking distance from the heart of downtown. Vaughan is a welcoming hostess, and she gave us a Charleston mini-history lesson over home-cooked breakfast each morning. The value here, relative to the cost of similarly situated hotels, is tremendous, and although there might be cheaper AirBnb options, I doubt they're anywhere near as charming. We'll definitely hope to stay here again, should we have the pleasure of returning to Charleston.
The listing was accurate and Vaughan was an absolute doll. She made me feel very welcome. The room was exactly as described and very comfortable.
We loved Vaughn's southern hospitality and beautiful home. One of our favorite features was her extensive tour she gave us showing us highlights of the city and of the town's great history. Another great part of our stay was the fantastic breakfast! This was a big spread of all your Southern comfort foods including grits, eggs and sausage.
If you want a charming cottage with the most gracious hostess and walking distance to the Market, restaurants, Harris Teeter, the Visitor Center and the lovely southern homes of Charleston, then look no more. I stayed at Vaughn's cottage for a month and loved every minute of it. Vaughn showed us her splendid house, gave us a tour of Charleston that was more informative than all the books I've read about the city, and made our stay so much fun and delightful. I will definitely be back.
I am so glad my boyfriend and I stayed with Vaughan during our trip to Charleston. This was our first airbnb experience, and we are now hooked! Vaughan is a charming hostess who made us feel right at home. Her historic house is lovely and within walking distance of most hotspots. However, she dropped us off at our desired restaurants both nights of our stay, so I did not have to walk far in my heels. The bed was comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Given the cost of most Charleston hotel rooms, I think our time with Vaughan was an excellent value. I would definitely stay with her again.
Vaughan was very welcoming and great host. The location is great and it was nice to be able to walk everywhere! Great value for money! Thank you!
