We are world travellers.
So grateful for this place. Had a last min airbnb cancel and was saved that evening. Great quiet house to take rest, perfect for being in some nature while near to town. Highly recommend it.
Only setback is bed is not so comfortable, couch is a dream
Wonderful jungle house getaway only 20 min away from town, it was nice having a scooter to get in and out of the area and would totally recommend anyone to stay. The area we stayed was very secluded and barely saw any of the neighbors. Some nights there was music playing in the distance but we could never find it.
We had a great time in Sabrina's beautiful house!
The house has a perfect view over the rice paddies, with amazing sunsets. Fresh papaya from the tree.
The area is gorgeous and quiet. We loved strolling the rice fields, gathering fire wood by the river, getting dinner (Krazy Kitchen!) and groceries from the small places by the road. Swimming Pool is nearby (Pai Hotsprings Spa Resort). Elephants, canyons and memorial bridge as well.
It's 10 km to Pai centre. No problem with the scooter. We preferred the scenic route past the elephants.
The hot tub is pure bliss! Water was warm enough most of the time. Star gazing beside the fire. The day after we enjoyed cooling down in the cold water left behind.
Kitchen equipment is great! Several blenders, an oven and plenty of pots and pans.
A lot of of tables, chairs, pillows and space on the porch to sit or lay back.
Internet connection is excellent. The fastest we got in Pai.
There's a big screen tv/monitor and big speakers. The mountain bike was great. We also rented her scooter, which works fine once you get used to the gears.
The house was not clean, even for Thai standards. We spent a day cleaning and organizing. There was lots of personal stuff left behind so there was not much space for ours. We didn't mind because at the time we thought we could extend our stay. She should have mentioned her plans could change and interfere with ours. We wouldn't have rented the house with that uncertainty.
Communication is minimal. Sabrina seems like a busy person who can't respond to (or perhaps read) everything. Don't worry too much, be brief and patient.
She could have said 'thanks' though after we cleaned the house for the next guests, on her request. We didn't hear anything after we left. No response on our friendly mail.
The bed is very squeaky, with a hard mattress. No problem for easy sleepers.
I wouldn't stay there with more than two adults (with two kids).
We never figured out how to manage the valve of the well, so a couple of times it overflowed or was nearly dry.
I wouldn't call it wheelchair friendly.
All in all the house is perfect to stay long term for us and we where very happy staying here.
The house is very cute and located in a wonderful and tranquil setting. The bed is a bit uncomfortable and the place could have been cleaner, especially the back patio area, but overall I would stay there again.
Unfortunately, I cannot give this place or the hosts a good review. The bungalow itself was very mouldy. It smelled of mould even after I scrubbed the bathroom walls and opened the place up to fresh air. The sheets were stained, many cobwebs and dust, and even the couch is full of old stains. Bed was hard as a rock and pillows were crumbly and disintegrating.
It is EXTREMELY overpriced for the area and for a place in such shabby condition.
Mould is actually Dangerous to breath in daily, so I had to leave.
I stayed 1 week of 4, notified the owners prior to my departure and request a refund for the unused time. They have not, as yet, refunded any portion of the money.
Very nice, relaxing and quiet place to stay in Pai. Sabrina was very helpful before our stay in house - providing us perfect information about Pai, how to get there and so, and answering all our questions.
House - challet - is nice, in perfect surroundings. The best features of house are outdoor kitchen with perfect views and hot tubes. Surrounding - very quiet, several kilometers outside the city. Perfect for people who prefer relaxing place to city hustle. Wifi - very good and fast. Unfortunatelly we could stay only one week, but it was very pleasant stay! Definitely we would stay again :)
My friend and I booked the property for 4 days on my 16th trip to Chiang Mai. I know the city well and was looking for a more authentic local Thai living experience than the typical hotel in the city center. Both my friend and I are rugged, experienced travelers, but neither of us was pleased with the condition or location of the Chalet.
First, it is in a very isolated area; difficult even for my friend who is a 15 year resident of the area to find. It is not 10 minutes from the city as the listing states. With typical traffic it can easily take 20-45 minutes to get to the city. When we went for a walk to the near by Kiree Thara Resort, we were chased by a pack of aggressive temple dogs. I am a dog lover and am not easily frightened, but I was not interested in going for a walk again. Unless you are planning on staying for a while and have your own transport this location is more hassle than it is worth.
Second, there is only one lumpy, filthy bed and an equally dirty couch. Not two beds as the listing states. The sheets on the bed had stains and there was no bedding to put on the couch. There were dead bugs and mouse droppings in every corner of the Chalet. The window and doors screens were full of holes and there were large spider webs on the ceiling and floor of kitchen. The shelves and appliances in the kitchen were dirty enough that we did not want to do more than make instant coffee. The outside patios were filthy with leaves and bugs. The place was simply sub-par in the cleanliness catagory.
If your looking for no frills, rustic cabin living, this place is for you. The cabin is close to town but isolated. The renters are absentee and therefor the property is not well maintained. There are no services here so you are on your own, my rating is 3 star cabin living in peaceful setting.
Well ,I would say this is the worst accommodation I booked in AirbnB.There are some following causes that I advise u not to book this apartment：1.When I came to the chiengmai,I try to find the location showed in (website hidden) is amazing that this location is wrong, and none of local residents know this place. What the hell！So I make a phone call to landlord,Actually the telephone number left in airbnb is wrong and I can't contact her.The all information in airbnb are wrong.I was very angry at that time.2.The apartment is located in jungle. There is no light and clear road sign on the way to it.You may easily lost your way when coming back at (website hidden)'s very dangerous for u to come back alone at night. The local resident dont know the address that landlord provided to (website hidden) you only can navigate by your feeling.3.The Introduction said that it is very close to the chiangmai center. But it actually is not.If u don't rent a motorbike, and familar with the extact address,it may take you more than one hour to the shopping (website hidden) friends was in a traffic accident coz of (website hidden) one night my friend (they rent a motorbike)can not find the way to apartment,so they call the landlord and seek help. Finally the landlord drive his motorbike to navigate them.He drive so fast that my friend can not catch on him(Speed at over 80km/h )In a sharp corner, they loose control and was serious injury. The things make me angry is that landlord's attitude is worse than before and they try to pass the buck.Even he says that he is very busy in these two days ,and he is not responsible for this accident. What the fuck person it is!However, this is the worst accommodation what I have seen!
Sabrina and Teun are very warm and open people. They are a pleasure to have around, conscious of the world and real travelers. Thanks for staying with us and for your generous contribution to our women education center.
I love the Pai Chalet!
I stayed there for 4 days and had a wonderful time. The property is a traditional little teak wood Thai house in an easy going setting. On the proper are hot springs all with different temperatures for bathing. The house is on a quiet countyside lane and you wake to the sound of cow bells only. I loved my morning walks down the road to the fields to watch the farmers and buffalos toiling the land. Its located about 15 minutes motorbike ride from Pai town so very convenient.Great wi fi if you need to connect!
