Dave is 29 and works as an economics consultant. Louise is 25 and manages a café called Chez Dre in South Melbourne, which consistently ranks highly and wins awards in Melbourne’s café guide (The Age Good Café Guide) – they are particularly well known for their amazing cakes and pastries, some of which have won international prizes (yum!).
We have been living in Melbourne for 5 years and loving it! We love being out and about and spend as much time as we can out at cafes, bars, and restaurants. We love food to the point of obsession and we have a great knowledge of the best places to eat out in Melbourne for all price ranges from cheap dumplings to gastro pubs to fine dining.
We also love travelling. Dave lived in Dublin and Brussels where he worked as a bartender for about four years all up, and besides Europe spent a long time travelling in Mexico, Guatemala, India, and Nepal. Louise is from Brussels so if you're a French speaker you can have a chat in French with her. Louise has also travelled extensively in Europe. Together we have travelled to Borneo, Morocco lots of places in Europe as well as, most recently, San Francisco and NYC for a month in January which was amazing!
We're having a great time hosting and travelling using airbnb. It is such a great way to meet people from all over and share more authentic travel experiences than you can have staying in hostels or hotels. We love seeing and hearing about places through the eyes of a local and we plan to do the same for you. We have loads of magazines on things to do in Melbourne, which include the latest cafes, bars, restaurants and festivals – all of which you are more than welcome to browse through and take notes.
