I had the pleasure of staying in the Dogwood Suite at the Yellow Cottage this past weekend. What a beautiful place and perfect for our occasion. We took a nap by the gently flowing creek right on the property then headed out to Spruce Pine for the Bar B Q Bluegrass Event. Our host, Patsy, was most gracious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a "mountain get away". THANKS PATSY!!!
Patsy was very prompt in responding to my request and provided excellent directions and details. We only spent one night in the Red Cottage-Blackberry Suite, basically just to sleep, but it met our needs. There are two beds, one in a room off the kitchen and one in the living room, along with a nice size kitchen and one bath with shower. It is definitely an older dwelling, but it was clean and pretty comfortable. The quiet setting is a few minutes drive to downtown Spruce Pine for dining, and about 35 minutes to Grandfather Mountain.
We arrived late at night to our cabin. We loved every moment we were here !! Patsy came in the afternoon the following day to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed. We were all in Heaven when we woke to see the beauty of this place. Our little dog came alive and was running around the fields like crazy. There was nice hiking walking distance from the cabin. Her daughter took us on a sweet horsetrail ride just for our family. The creek is magical and so close to the cabin. This was exactly the get away our family needed and yet close enough to anything we might want . Easy access to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. The cabin itself was fine for our small family of 3 and met our needs. It would have been tight if our family were any bigger and we were glad no one else was staying in the apartment connected to our cabin since we were looking to have focused family time and some privacy. Patsy was great and even let us take our time packing to check out since she did not have someone else checking in that day. It was hard to leave.
We look forward to returning to this lovely place in the future.
Patsy is so nice and kind. The property was well kept and peaceful. Plenty of chairs to sit in next to the creek. The neighboring apartment was quiet and did actually have someone else staying in it as well. Didn't notice any noise.
There are plates and glassware to use as you need. Well stocked towels. The A/C works great, if you're curious. The property across the creek had a horse or two that was beautiful to watch romp around in the misty morning. Very much a rustic view and super calming. The place was clean, and well kept. The water pressure was fine. It's a nice little room with a BIG king bed. I like hard mattresses and this one was just perfect for our backs after a day of rockhounding!
The cottage was comfortable and clean... nice quiet setting.....great location for us since we were taking our daughter to Penland school of crafts. Also easy access to shopping /dining.
Patsy was helpful with her knowledge of the area.
We had a wonderful experience. We came here the night before I went to take a class at Penland ( which if you need a place to stay nearby, this is a great close option) and it was so cute. The bedroom was lovely, the house was clean and just what we needed. We were blown away by the views and it was just so beautiful. We only wish we were staying longer but both agreed that we will be back to stay for a longer trip.
We loved staying at the cottage! The land was beautiful. The fireflys were amazing. The space was clean and welcoming.
I had a wonderful (but altogether too short) stay in this cottage. Set in a stunningly beautiful part of the state, the Yellow Cottage is cozy and comfortable and a great place to hang one's hat while exploring the lush and fecund beauty of the area.
Your host, Patsy, was very friendly and welcomed us into her home and yet we hardly knew she was there. The place exceeded our expectations. It was remote and quiet and suited our group of 20 perfectly! The view was perfect and we had a lovely fire in the outdoor campfire every night. It was like sleep away camp with the two bunkrooms. Our wedding guests loved it and a good time was had by all. It was a quick 3 mile drive from restaurants and stores. Not too far from Asheville. Thanks, Patsy! Look forward to coming back.
Patsy was an excellent host. Her cottage was clean and charming. My wife and I had a wonderful time in the Spruce Pine area. There was plenty to do, and we enjoyed being so close to so many places of interest.
