Patsy's place was easy to find as she gave great directions. It was perfect for what we needed. It's great for a couple or small family as the bed is huge and has a convenient kitchen. Te kids can play in the creek while dinner is being prepared!
We had a wonderful stay in the red cottage. The place was very cozy and comfortable. There is a cute creek that runs through the property and horses are on the hill behind the house. My friend and I were in the area to see the meteor shower and there was a great field out front to see it from. I would love to go back and spend more time.
the welcome was adequate.
Patsy's cottage was exactly what my son and I were looking for. Like the ad says, if you're looking for a five star hotel, this may not be the place, but if you're looking for a cozy and warm place to stay in the mountains, this is it. The furnishings are simple and the cottage was very clean. We arrived late on our first night so unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to meet out host, but the setting was exactly as described. Easy access to the town of Spruce Pine and only 1/2 drive to Linville Caverns. I would love to stay here again if we decide to visit the area!
When our plans unexpectedly fell through after only one night of our stay at Patsy's lovely yellow cottage, she graciously helped us out with cancelling the rest of our stay. Even though she was under no obligation, she refunded our partial payment without hesitation. We're amateur astronomers and were disappointed that we couldn't stay longer there and enjoy the peace and quiet and extremely dark night skies. Thanks for everything, Patsy!
Quick and easy check-in. The property seems secluded, yet just a few minutes away from quaint Spruce Pine. The red cottage is every bit as charming as described. We loved our stay here and plan to come again. This was so much more enjoyable than any hotel. The climate is cooler in the mountains,so we slept with the windows open. Good screens kept bugs out and let in the sounds of the brook, frogs, birds, crickets and horses in the field.
Great Thank You!
The location of the cottage was perfect, as we were visiting a friend at nearby Penland School of Craft. The cottage was clean and had the essential cookware and there is a lovely brook right by the house. There was no booklet on locations of area market, restaurants, etc. Unfortunately we had to search out Patsy after waiting for four hours in the cottage---I would have called but there was no cell service for AT & T.
I had the pleasure of staying in the Dogwood Suite at the Yellow Cottage this past weekend. What a beautiful place and perfect for our occasion. We took a nap by the gently flowing creek right on the property then headed out to Spruce Pine for the Bar B Q Bluegrass Event. Our host, Patsy, was most gracious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a "mountain get away". THANKS PATSY!!!
Patsy was very prompt in responding to my request and provided excellent directions and details. We only spent one night in the Red Cottage-Blackberry Suite, basically just to sleep, but it met our needs. There are two beds, one in a room off the kitchen and one in the living room, along with a nice size kitchen and one bath with shower. It is definitely an older dwelling, but it was clean and pretty comfortable. The quiet setting is a few minutes drive to downtown Spruce Pine for dining, and about 35 minutes to Grandfather Mountain.
