I teach literature at a local university. I speak Spanish fluently. International guests always welcome.
We enjoyed this cozy apartment. There was a kitchen we used to cook in and a little dining nook we enjoyed. Plus, we had our own entrance, so we didn't have to bother our host. The house was a few blocks from the trolley and buses, so we were able to get to the French Quarter with no problems. It was also safe to walk back and forth even in the middle of the night. Overall, I reccomend staying here.
We enjoyed our stay. John was super and very friendly. Our drive on St. Charles Ave. to French Quarter was interesting. Groceries only four blocks away. Hope to get back to New Orleans and stay at John's.

Let's just start by saying John is a great host. He was thoughtful and easy going. He explained everything that one would need to know about the apartment. The apartment was nice, clean, warm, and felt like a home away from home. This was my first air bnb experience and I was very pleased thanks to john and his apartment.
We loved staying in John's home! It was perfect for us for the 1 night we were staying. John was very accommodating and easy and quick to deal with and we'd love to stay there again should we return :)
If you are going to be staying in New Orleans for any length of time, John's place is where you want to be. It is the coziest, most comfortable apartment with easy access to anywhere you wish to visit in the city. John was an excellent host, and his apartment helped to make our stay very enjoyable. There is a gate at the street which locks up in the evening and that we had a key to. The apartment has a separate entrance from the rest of the house, and a code lock on a time in case you ever forgot to lock it before leaving. The apartment has a fully functional kitchen, fridge, coffeemaker, along with a television and couch so comfortable you will want to take it with you when you leave. The heat works great on those rare chilly New Orleans nights, and there are plenty of windows if you want to open them up for some fresh air. The bedroom had the most comfortable bed we had ever slept on, another piece of furniture we would have liked to taken home with us. The bedroom has an adjacent bathroom with a neat, clean shower and toilet. At one point during our stay, we ran out of paper towels, so we mentioned this to John and he replenished us with two rolls immediately. The place is amazing, you need to check it out!
John’s place in NOLA was a great base for our trip. The apartment was exactly as described, and John was very accommodating with providing a few “extras” for my kids. The neighborhood was a delight to walk in and around and you got a true feel of a New Orleans neighborhood. If you have no car it may be a challenge to get to all the sights, but don’t let that deter you. This is a true gem of a place on Airbnb. Thanks John!
We were visiting relatives in the neighborhood and all the nearby hotels were booked up, so we turned to airbnb for the first time and are very glad that we did. This was a great private apartment in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The accommodations were just perfect. John responded almost immediately to all my questions and he was so easy to deal with. Before we arrived he provided a full sheet of information, including how to get in the apartment when we arrived even if he was unavailable to greet us. I would highly recommend his place and would love to stay there again. Thanks, John!
John's apartment is extremely well appointed. It's comfortable, spacious and quiet.
The neighborhood is quintessential New Orleans with leafy streets, interesting architecture and a few resident cats. There are a few restaurants nearby, a grocery store and quick access to public transportation.
We spent most of time at the French Quarter and it was nice to come home to a different part of town to decompress, recharge and be ready to go back to the mayhem the next day.
John is a great host even when he's not around (he was out of town during our stay). He provided all the necessary information and answered all our questions. We will definitely stay at his place the next time we go to New Orleans.
This is a great little place, close to a number of New Orleans attractions -- eight blocks walk to the St. Charles street car terminus and a nice Robert's Fresh Market, five blocks to the well-reviewed Ye Olde College Inn restaurant and Rock n Bowl lanes and music venue. Follow Carrollton south and it's not far to trendy Oak and Maple street dining and commercial areas. We had a rental car -- easier than messing with transit, which is also close -- and loved going north to city park for runs along Bayou St. John, or through the marvelous park and its fantastic sculpture garden. And when you've burned off the carbs, the park also features a Morning Call outlet for beignets and coffee. The other direction is a short drive to Audubon Park, another great walking or running venue. And from there it's an easy and short drive to numerous dining opps along Magazine and various side streets. Highly recommend Boucherie, Cowbell, Dante's Kitchen, Patois and Coquette. In warehouse district, great dining also at Cochon (Butcher for quick, casual option) and Peche (for seafood; try it mid-week, to avoid the weekend crowds, which can make the dining room a bit noisy). John was a great host, His place also features a lovely sitting area outside in back, a perfect spot to sip morning coffee or evening cocktails in the fresh air. We would gladly stay with him if ever the two of us are headed to NOLA again. Thanks, John.
I couldn't have asked for a better home to stay at while visiting New Orleans. The location was very convenient and easy to locate for taxi purposes. John, the home owner, was very flexible with my schedule, kind, and answered any questions I had very promptly.
THe house was the perfect size and literally had everything I needed...even down to the toiletries and condiments in the kitchen. We ran into a little toilet issue at the house before we arrived, but he hired someone right away to fix the problem and even gave us a refund to make up for our troubles...Which in all actuality was not any trouble whatsoever because of his kindness and commuication!
I recommend this place very highly and when I return to NOLA I will definitely stay here again!
Thank you JOHN! :)
Hosting John and Leslie was a pleasure. They were amiable, easy-going and gregarious guests. Their flexibility with our schedules was much appreciated. We would love to have them back again and would highly recommend them to anyone!
John is a wonderful host--very amiable, and extremely helpful. The apartment is convenient, comfortable, and very nicely furnished. It feels like a home away from home in a way that apartments I've rented in other cities never have.
