Looking for a legitimate Mission experience?
Apply to stay at the Hub.
Johnny and the resident entrepreneurs are living the dream.
All with a passion and a big idea, they're applying their creativity to solve tough problems, catch baddies, make music, fashion, movements and amazing art.
The artists and entrepreneurs in residence were welcoming, friendly, interesting and inspiring hosts.
Sure, it's rough around the edges, so if you're looking for a clean, shiny, new place - this isn't a match for you.
But if you're looking for *the* Mission experience, you've found the right place.
Johnny and the crew at the sub are absolutely fantastic hosts. From inviting me to a party on my first night, to letting me store my luggage even after I checked out, they truly did their best to make me feel at home. I felt like an old friend coming to visit rather than a guest renting a room.
The location is perfect, right in the heart of the mission, and right next to BART if you want to travel.
Many wise mothers all across the world once said "if you're going to do something, do it properly!"
Generally they're referring to the washing up or your primary school homework, but in this case I'm appropriating the phrase. If you're going to travel to San Francisco, then do it properly. The Sub is an inspiring, eclectic warehouse space and residents in a district of the same characteristics. It's a legitimate San Francisco experience, and the housemates personifications of that; they're friendly, creative, and the kind of people who invite you to parties in converted mansions you aren't going to find out about on trip advisor (and which make for much better postcard stories than "walked across the golden gate today!")
If you're creatively inclined yourself and it sounds like your scene or just looking for something more authentic than white sheets and a lukewarm continental breakfast, staying at The Sub is doing San Francisco properly. So you know, listen to your mothers.
Johnny and his flatmates were gracious and attentive hosts. The accommodation is right in the heart of the trendy Mission district, plenty of interesting and unique coffee shops, restaurants and venues within a close walking distance.
The room was as described, also clean and neat. Next time I am in SF I will definitely be trying to stay back at the warehouse.
Your host Johnny is an awesome guy who will make you feel right at home. The Sub itself is an inspiring place. Chill and relaxed atmosphere and perfectly situated to experience the best of SF, the Mission district. Definitely recommended. Use the Instax.
This place is not for everyone but if you're after the real bohemian Mission experience, this is your place. The space is big, light, quiet and surprisingly well organised and tidy for such a big flat share.
Johnny is awesome and will go out of his way to make sure you have as much fun as San Francisco has to give.
Very nice place, good situation, people very friendly , amazing experience and San Francisco is awesome :-)))), I ll be back for sure !
What an experience! Johnny's place is one of a kind. That is for sure! The culture is fitting of the SF entrepreneurial atmosphere. Johnny is a very friendly host, and he will make sure that you have a good time in SF!
Johnny and his roommates are rock stars... somewhat literally! The room was great, the mattress amazing and the overall stay was perfect. I wanted to check out the Mission to see if I wanted to move there and this was the opportune spot to do it from. Only thing I wish was that they were around for more time, but this is a place you have to check out!
Very inspiring space and group of individuals. The host Johnny is unforgettable. Location is super convenient to the BART and tons of other stuff in the Mission. I loved feeling like I could come back super late and not be bothering anyone. Bed and private room was uber comfortable. Loved having music and what not happening in the space as I was coming and going. The community aspect is really important to the household so not all guests requests will be granted. As it should be.
Johnny was a great guest, I only wish he had been able to stay longer. Although we never met, he was fast to alert me to a bit of storm damage which helped prevent further damage. Very understanding and down to Earth, I would love to rent to Johnny again and would recommend him to others!
Johnny was a great guest and we were happy to welcome him while he was here for SXSW. He was kind, laid-back, a great conversationalist and minded the house rules. Would definitely welcome johnny again.
