I'm a nurse who travels most places by bike, with a book in her bag. I live with my partner who works at a preschool does photography as a hobby. Together we are active in our community, organize in social justice movements, enjoy cultural events, read, and love to eat at restaurants and homecooked meals - in Chicago and wherever else we find ourselves! We're both great resources for the lesser traveled roads, alleys, trails and paths of Chicago.

So far, we have mainly hosted our entire apartment while we're away traveling. To welcome our guests, we try to arrange to meet you before we have to leave to pass off keys and help get you settled, or arrange for a friendly neighbor/friend to do so. As you can see, we have a very bright and colorful apartment that's a great location for curling up with a book and relaxing or as a home base to explore the city.

Our neighborhood, Albany Park is a wonderful working class community that's one of the most ethnically diverse in Chicago, if not the United States. (The high school around the corner, alma mater to the children's author Shel Silverstein, now has a student body that speaks dozens of languages from every continent!)

About five minutes' walk out the front door and you're on the Brown line "el" which zips through north side neighborhoods like Lincoln Square (Old Town School of Folk Music, shopping and restaurants galore), Lakewood/Boystown (Wrigley field, gay nightlife, and more), Lincoln Park (DePaul university and various historical sights), Old Town, and the famous Chicago Loop with all kinds of entertainment and museums. Two blocks north or south, you can catch a bus that goes straight to the lakefront and cool neighborhoods like Andersonville or Uptown, and even closer is the a bus that goes south to Avondale, Logan Square, Humboldt Park, Garfield Park, Lawndale and Little Village. (Please ask away for tips on what to do in any of these places).

We look forward to meeting you and hope that you enjoy staying at our home!
