I live in the lovely Northeast now, work in higher education, and in my free time learn the drums and do crafty things like make jewelry or knit. My boyfriend is working as a prep cook and is a musician.
Sorry, about the toilet thing, that was probably my boyfriend being forgetful. Still gross but it happens. Regarding the dishes: well, we did clean out the coffeemaker which had green fuzz growing on the previous coffee grounds that had not been discarded. And we left two coffee mugs in the sink because we had to catch a flight, sorry about that. It was completely unclear to me whether we could use her towels and where to put anything that might be dirty. There was also no nightstand space (which a guest may very well need). The floors looked clean but had a layer of dirt on them.
I should note that getting into the house was not at all easy. Iris said the place would be unlocked, which made me feel uneasy but I went along with it. When we arrived at midnight the door was locked and she was unavailable to answer her phone. Standing outside of a TX porch in the middle of the night in a dark neighborhood was nerve wracking. Her sister arrived soon after and was able to let us in. Her sister mentioned that she didn't know anyone would be staying in the extra bedroom and didn't even tell us which bedroom we would be staying in. We had to ask her. Also, there was a big hunting knife in the room and REDRUM written on the bedroom wall, which was disconcerting after the mishap with the keys and arriving so late at night.
