Jessica's cottage was very clean, comfortable, cozy place.
I spent my spring vacation with my family and had a great time in Charlestion.
I just didn't have to contact Jessica a lot because she provided a lot of information in advance.
I recommend this place.
The apartment exceeded our expectations! It looks just as it does in pictures, the location is perfect, and it was fully stocked with everything from bath products to olive oil to laundry detergent!
Jessica was very responsive and left us full instructions for her cottage. The place was simply- and beautifully-decorated. We made mental notes of the space-saving features in the kitchen for our own apartment kitchen. We loved details like the Le Creuset-stocked kitchen and Charleston decor coffee table books. Sharing the driveway was no problem at all, and the neighborhood was awesome! We only wished for more time to stop by all the local shops and cafes!
Wow! This place is so incredible. My dad and I traveled to Charleston for a wedding. It was cozy and spacious. We cooked all of our meals! It was clean and inviting. I would definitely stay here again!!!
Unfortunately this entire experience was less than pleasant from the minute I paid for the rental on the green cottage. First I was told that the parking space which was advertised as "dedicated" was actually a shared driveway. Someone else could be parked either in front of us or behind us, and we would need to leave our contact information, either on that car or on our car, so no one would be blocked in. Next I was presented with a separate (website hidden) contract. Although I refused to sign it I had to waste time attempting to contact AirBnB to determine if it was a usual and customary practice. It is not. (And as an aside when I called the "emergency AirBnB phone number on Friday evening no one answered. My emails were answered 48 hours after I sent them. So much for the emergency phone number). A particular clause in the contract stated that "while things such as appliances, internet, TV were likely in working order, the host made no promises as such." And "if anything was broken they would do their best to fix those items in a timely manner." Luckily all was working.
When we arrived to check-in, at 3:00PM - the official check-in time- there was, in fact, a car blocking the driveway. That car belonged to the cleaning crew. We were forced to find a space on the street and wait until they finished. When we finally were able to park in "our" spot it was directly next to a mountain of trash from several of the other units on the property.
The cottage itself is cute on the inside. It matches the description and pictures. However, when the weather is cold, as it was when we stayed (record low temperatures in Charleston), it is very cold inside. The thermostat kept readjusting down to 62, and the cottage is not insulated. There are gaps between the bottom of the door and the floor which makes air pass through easily. There are two bathrooms in the cottage which in theory we like (one for my husband; one for me). Sadly the second bathroom was frigid, therefore unusable.
Now, regarding the neighborhood...be certain you understand the term "up and coming neighborhood." While the cottage is theoretically walking distance to upper King Street, it's probably not a walk you want to take after dark. And while the neighborhood bakery makes great cupcakes, and the restaurant Hominy Grill is excellent, these are the only two redeeming virtues of the area.
Beautiful cottage, great stay! Incredibly comfortable beds, and everything was clean and easy. Jessica (email hidden). Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.
great little apartment.
What a great trip my wife and I just had to Charleston! We love this city and this cottage was a great spot for taking it all in. The cottage was clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated. We really liked how it was all put together. And Jessica was super helpful and attentive throughout our stay. Great to have that local resource!
We loved staying in what we're told is the "hip" new area of town. It was nice to be able to walk to dinner every night. Looks like there is a lot of development in the area - it'll be interesting to see how it's all grown on my next visit. Thank you again for everything!
PS - Let's just say Hominy Grill rocks!
Such a cute cottage! Very clean and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable bed and nice linens. Jessica (email hidden)- welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about Charleston. We had a great time- thank you green cottage!
