I never meet Danny as he had his "friend" Gal get the key to me. The apartment was pretty much as described and suited my needs well. Have stayed in berlin many times but not in Kreuzberg so was happy to find this area, while not Prenzlaeurberg is equally as hospitable. There are various options for using the U and the combination with bus services makes transport easy.

Apartment was great! Everything we were looking for in a one bedroom apartment. Neighborhood was amazing. Tons of great food and bars. A little miscommunication upon arrival but despite that everything worked out great. Definitely would stay again!
A great apartment where you get what you paid for. The place wasn't that clean but no problems at all with the warm water (as mentioned in other reviews). A nice location near the subway with stores around the corner.
Communication with Danny's friend was easy and she was there to greet me when I arrived. Overall, the space was okay. I would have liked nicer bedding, but it was a good deal for the price.
I'm not sure what the previous guests problem was with the water temperature, because I thought it worked great! However, the shower was very small and a bit of a challenge to keep the floors from getting wet.
Pleasant apartment with windows facing a quiet backyard. Large and comfortable bed and a small, but functional kitchen.
Great central location with walking distance to both U7 and U8, a postal office and the city's best steakhouse (The Bird), as well as one of the best vietnamese restaurants in Berlin (Hamy Cafe).
Danny's friend was very flexible with the check-in times and helpful in general pointing out local restaurants and shops.
Unfortunately there was an issue with the shower breaking down, but Danny was quick to offer a reimbursement as well as sorting out a repairman on short notice.
Not having warm water in the shower is the only thing keeping this from a 5-star apartment, I would say.
We were going to arrive Berlin at 4:30am, in the night between 8th and 9th, which isn't a convenient hour.
We booked Danny's apartment from the 8th and asked for extreme late checkin.
I also asked if he could leave the key somewhere and we'll meet in the morning, so that we wouldn't need to wait with our luggage in the middle of the night for hours.
Danny said he will not host us, his friend Gal will, and she can meet us at the earliest 7am which was great.
I asked Gal (as our updated host) about the option of picking up the key somewhere. She said she can meet us at 7am at the apartment.
Then I got a pissed message from Danny, that I don't follow his rules, he is the apartment owner and I don't respect him, Gal and the apartment. I apologized, realized that I've done a mistake asking about it again.
With no specific reason - maybe for punishment - Danny told us that Gal can meet us only at 8am, not 7am as they said before.
It was a bit weird but fine by me, maybe there was a real reason behind it.
Despite dozens of mails I sent to Danny and Gal which in many of them I wrote we arrive in the night between the 8th and the 9th which means we'll be at the apartment in the 9th morning, they somehow made a mistake and thought we'll be there at the morning of the 8th.
In spite of the fact it was their mistake, Danny forced me to send an apology mail to Gal that we didn't show up, sure we didn't, we were still at Amsterdam and if he or Gal read the mails properly, they would've known it.
That's not all, Danny punished us again, and said that tomorrow we cannot meet Gal at the apartment; we need to get at 8am to somewhere else to collect the keys to the apartment. It took us 15 minutes driving from the central station, to get the key, and took us another 15 minutes to get to the apartment.
It was a day before the arrival and I was so close to cancel it all, but was afraid I wouldn't find other place to stay at Berlin.
We got instructions from Gal how to find the apartment, and when we got to the address it took us more that an hour to find it because we found out it was a lousy explanation.
That's how our vacation at Berlin started.
2 out of 5 days we couldn't shower at all due to no hot water at noon, in other times of the day, there's the hot/cold situation you can read in other reviews. We even considered going to a shower at a public pool.
I do not recommend this apartment at all to anyone.
