We loved staying Aaron's cottage! Wonderful hosts, beautiful backyard, yummy breakfast, nice place to hang around. Few minutes walk to the sea that seems so private and special. Especially the hosts, they are really nice. So kind to our kids, let them collect the eggs and coconuts to taste! My son cried because he didn't want to leave. Thanks for everything, we will definitely come back here again!
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Nice location. Beach access just a short walk away. Host was there to greet us and answer any questions we had upon arrival.
Downtown Hilo was nearby and lots of fresh fruits were found at farmers market. Room was clean and comfy bed.
We only stayed here one night, but it was great! Alan was very friendly, the place was clean and the breakfast was amazing! I would definitely stay here again.
Hope to have another opportunity to host you.
Mahalo, too, for your kind words.
Aaron's Cottage is a delightful place to stay, just minutes from downtown Hilo and many nice beachside parks where you can bask in the sun, watch sea turtles at play and hang with the locals. However, one if the best things about this place are the hosts, Alan and Penne Tanabe. They're a welcoming team that creates some amazingly plentiful and delicious breakfasts, keeps the cottages clean and bright, the grounds manicured and in bloom with a variety of native flora and are just great people to associate with. Aaron's Cottage is just over a mile to Hilo airport, and close to major arterial roads, like the 11 that will take you to Volcano and other major coastal attractions. This place has a very high occupancy rate and it's easy to see why. If you have the chance to stay here, grab it, cherish it. It will be one of the highlights on your travel reel.
Would not stay here again. Noisy chirping frogs, and barking dogs during the night, difficult to get to sleep. Need to change the bedspread, old and stained-looking. Great location to nearby activities.
We stayed two nights at this place on our round the world trip. The guest house was ok but not 100% what we have expected out from the internet profile / photos and the previous reviews we saw.
The sep. guest room has own entrance (good privacy) and there is highspeed wlan/internet. Parking place is in front of the house and its close to Hilo Airport / City / Malls.
Alan is a nice person and for sure a good host.
We stayed overnight in the cottage of Alan. The next morning, Alan had me prepared us very delicious breakfast. And he welcomed us along with the cute Dalmatian. There are also beautiful beaches in the immediate vicinity, it is recommended for morning walk. I want to visit again! Thank you very much!
Only stayed one night but it was great! Alan kept in touch and was able to make accommodations for us last minuet due to a cancelation. The frogs were a little loud..but nothing Alan could have done about that :)
The breakfast in the morning was one of the best bed and breakfast treats!
Fruit was fresh and delicious, a big hearty breakfast burrito and coffee! Couldn't have asked for more...all one block from the ocean. Highly recommended!
We only stayed here a night but it was in a great location and the room was sufficient. Its located very close to a black rock/coral beach as well as downtown Hilo, which made it easy to go see the things. Breakfast in the morning was perfect with biscuits, fresh fruit, eggs, cereal, etc. Next time we are in town we will try and book the Aaron's Cottage again!
