We had a lovely weekend at Claire's beautiful house, and Claire was really helpful (and speedy) in contacting us and replying to queries about directions, where the key would be left and also little tips about how to find places in Wylam.
The house was really clean, spacious and the surrounding fields were stunning, there was also a fridge fully stocked with bacon, eggs, milk, bread and other lovely breakfast things, so thumbs up on great hosting!
Wish we had stayed longer! Thank you
Wow! What a beautiful, peaceful place and Claire could not have been a more accomidating host. We had some special needs on the trip and Claire was wonderful to work with. The house itself is lovely, very peaceful, spacious and bright and the town is super cute. I was there for work but would love to stay at the cottage again for holiday.
This property was exactly as described - lovely cottage in a perfect location. My daughter & family were over from NZ & staying mostly at home in Devon. This was the perfect place to stay for their last few days before flying out from Heathrow (just 30 minutes away). The cottage was a peaceful haven in a quiet residential street & very close to both the river and transport into the city. We did the boat trip (via coffee at The Boaters Inn) from Kingston to Hampton Court Palace on one day and then the train to Waterloo for 'a trot around town' the next day. Also the choice of eateries and decent supermarkets on the doorstep was impressive - as was the Indian take-away delivered one evening! And our host Claire was always very prompt to reply to any queries we had. I can thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking for accommodation that gives you access to both the city and to the historical environs of Hampton Court, Richmond Park, Windsor etc ...
We had a great time staying in Claire and Simon's well equipped comfortable spacious but cosy house. Its in a lovely peaceful location down a track overlooking fields. We went with our kids (2 and 5) and there was plenty of room for them to play inside and out. They especially enjoyed the large wild garden where they played hide and seek. Only wish we had brought bikes and scooters with us to make the most of the cycle path that goes from the house one way to Wylam and the other to Newcastle. Would definitely recommend to others.
This beautiful, cosy little cottage really didn't disappoint and made for a perfect London getaway! Claire was so helpful and accommodating at very short notice which made the weekend hassle free and even more relaxing.
Its perfect as a base for exploring the local area with a lovely boat ride along the Thames to Hampton Court Palace and plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance! We'd particularly recommend the Grove for the best Sunday roast we've ever had!
The house is really lovely. A real home from home with everything you will need. Claire even provides a selection of provisions on arrival to ensure you are set to, at least, enjoy a hearty breakfast.
The house is located overlooking open countryside and we were luck to spot Deer in the field next to the woods two night running.
We stayed for the Easter weekend 2015. The house is located next to a public footpath that you can cycle or walk along. In one direction, our night 1, you will find Wyalm if you head west. We visited the Boathouse and the black bull. Good craft beers, nice food and good atmosphere.
The next day we walked East along the path. You can basically walk all the way into newcastle. We got as far as Blaydon before turning back to visit the lamp house brewery.
We also walked along the path and upto Heddon on the wall to take a look at a section of Hadrians wall. I think we walked 15 miles!
The track is surfaced and really good for cycling. I'm sure you could cycle for miles along the river Tyne. Very nice
We spent our evenings listening to Clairs ecletic mix of cd's and playing the many board games that are in the house.
All the rooms are well appointed. We had a really lovely time in a lovely house in a lovely part of the world hosted by a very attentive owner that just wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Claire
Thanks Greg, we're pleased you managed to see so much of the area on such a flying visit and appreciate you sharing the walks you did - I'm sure other guests will find this helpful. You're welcome back any time!
We enjoyed a really wonderful stay in this gorgeous cottage. Thank you Claire for the additional touches, including bread, sweet treats, breakfast items - so welcoming. It is a beautifully decorated house that lends itself to relaxation and fun. We went there as a treat for Mum as it was Mothers Day - she was tickled pink by it! Brilliant walking as well, can't speak highly enough about it! Thank you.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay Sarah - and what a lovely surprise for your mum! Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it. We'd be happy to have you stay again any time.
We loved staying in this cottage - it was everything we'd hoped for from the description and photos, and more! We felt very welcomed by the "our house is yours" vibe that Claire and her family organised for our arrival, with snacks and essentials like milk, eggs (and wine!) in the fridge. The cottage was clean but had a homely feel, and we lit fires very easily every night.
The cottage is in the perfect location - right next to a tiny National Trust property, and a short walk from Wylam with its 4 pubs, bistro and cafe which we explored. It was also very easy to get to Hadrian's Wall, and into Newcastle, so very easy to explore all of Northumbria although we mainly wanted to enjoy the cottage!
Overall, it was the perfect mini break and we'd love to come back!
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and are welcome back any time. Thanks for your feedback.
We had a lovely stay in the cottage whilst we were up from London for a wedding at Close House.
Claire was extremely helpful in giving us all the information we needed both before and during our stay and was very responsive, including to our late change of numbers.
As the cottage is clearly used as a home for the owners at times it meant that there was everything we needed for our stay and then some! Although it did not feel like we were imposing as they had found the right balance between holiday let and home.
We were a party of 6 and it was more than comfortably big enough for us.
Would highly recommend both the property and the hosts, thanks for a lovely stay.
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay Richard - thanks for the feedback. We'd be happy to have you stay again any time.
Thank you Claire for your wonderful hosting and a really lovely, superbly appointed cottage in a fabulous spot! We had a great time.
You're welcome Tom, it was a pleasure having you stay.
It was a great pleasure to meet Claire, Simon and his relatives. They were so nice, kind and polite. The communication was excellent and the house was in perfect condition when they left. I would highly recommend them.
It was really lovely to meet Claire and her husband. I wish they had stayed longer than one night. Everything about their stay was really nice. They left my apartment very nice and clean and I barely even noticed they had stayed. Great couple. Very respectful and interesting. I hope to be able to make it to the UK and stay at their place one day.
Claire and Simon are a delightful couple and were very respectful of our space. they left the place clean and tidy. We would welcome them back anytime.
Claire and her husband, Simon, were delightful to host. Very easy to get along with. My son and I joined them for a glass of wine and good conversation around the fire pit. They too are Airbnb hosts from the UK. Looking forward to visiting them there. I hope to see them again.
Claire and Simon were a pleasure to host in my home! I was fortunate to spend some time with them and share some laughs over wine and cheese. They were easygoing, interesting guests who shared their airbnb forum knowledge and cool travel experiences with me. I would welcome them back anytime!
Excellent guests! They communicated clearly, were quiet and respectful, and left things in perfect condition. I'd welcome them back any time!
Claire has been a wonderful guest!
When I told her she could stay as long as she wanted on the day of her late flight back, she even offered to clean the house and do the laundry, so my house would be ready for the new guests.
I would highly recommend her!
Claire and Simon were wonderful guests who enjoyed all that Burgau and the surrounding area has to offer…
Looking for some peace and tranquility to recharge their batteries, we think they found just what they were looking for…
We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to meet up with them again in the near future and would highly recommend them to any airbnb host…
The very best kind of guest we could ask for. Offering rooms with AirBnB is not the same as running a hotel -- no kidding! -- and when we find guests who appreciate the strengths of the system and are patient with where we fall short, we are more than grateful. Claire and Simon were wonderful guests, very appreciative, easy to work with, and most welcome any time.
