Appartement charmant et très bien situé à Tours. Catherine est très accueillante et très sympathique. Elle nous a donné de bons conseils. Merci encore pour ce séjour !
ours is a fantastic area and Catherine's apartment is so centrally located to restaurants, bars and everything you need for our short stay.
She was in contact very regularly and made sure that we would be comfortable in our stay. The apartment itself is very large and looks much bigger than in the photos. The four of us staying got our own rooms for the two night stay.
However, the smell of dust and cats throughout the apartment was very prominent. Even after opening the windows and letting the breeze through, the apartment still had quite a stale smell which was tolerable but not pleasurable during our stay.
The apartment itself is very well set out in terms of bedrooms and amenities however, even though I realise that the point of airbnb is that you live in someone's house, there was lots of personal items cluttered everywhere including dirty dishes that made it feel like you were overstepping into someone's life.
Other than that this was a great place to stay!
Un super accueil, une super hôte, et un super appart, que demander de mieux!
Catherine is a welcoming and very friendly host. She was also very willing to accommodate changes I made to our booking shortly before arrival.
In keeping with the fantastic location just over a kilometre from the central railway station, Catherine's house is an old styled building in the tradition of the area. The house is very close to the Loire river which therefore offers easy walking access to many areas of interest.
The accommodation we used on the 3rd floor consisted of two separate rooms, both with a comfortable double bed. On this floor there is also a small but adequate bathroom for personal use of the guests. We should also mention there is private access to this 3rd floor via a spiral staircase within the building.
In addition there is the family kitchen on the second floor, which was made available to us whenever we needed it. We very much appreciated the coffee Catherine made for us every morning and by the warm greeting we received by the gorgeous family cat.
Thank you Catherine for a wonderful few days in Tours.
Unfortunately, there are only two positive things I can say about the apartment: 1) The location is fantastic and 2) the cat is really nice. I sincerely wish now that when I had messaged Catherine to make sure her apartment was available, I would have said no when she asked if she could stay in the small single room. Of course, there was no way of knowing there'd be a communication breakdown during our stay.
The first night went fine. The next morning, however, two of our friends didn't sleep well and so decided to go out for breakfast instead of eating the one Catherine provided. She took it badly that the couple didn't eat the baguette and croissants she got from across the street. I saw she felt upset and uncomfortable, and so I apologized in person and later by message for a second time. Everything seemed fine. That evening, since I wasn't sure if Catherine would be around, I messaged her to let her know that a friend of my husband's was going to come by so we could chat. We hadn't seen him in a year, so we were looking forward to meeting up. She told us we weren't allowed. She acted as if she couldn't understand the purpose of us having him over. We made it clear it wasn't to party, and as it was, the previous night we all went to bed before 11pm, before she even got home. We went back to the apartment and tried to reason with her, especially because we had remembered our friend would have his 4 year old daughter with him, so it's not like we could go out to a bar. I tried to appeal to her motherly side, since there were photos of her children everywhere. No go. She told us we weren't allowed because our friends didn't eat her breakfast that morning, and that we were incredibly inhospitable. I was shocked by the immaturity of it. Again, we paid for use of the entire apartment. Things did not get better from there. Catherine showed herself to be very passive aggressive and shockingly rude.
As for the apartment, its state is terrible. Catherine's affairs are littered absolutely everywhere - toothbrush and facewash in the kitchen, handbag on the living room table with scarf and keys, no place for guests to put away their things, in the bedrooms or bathrooms. Large holes in chairs. Multiple used towels in bathroom, so you have no place to put your own. She also put a bunch of dirty laundry out on top of the washing machines. The top flight of the stairwell is the worst. Because the top two floors of the apartment building are theirs, there are things littering the stairway, and it reeks of rancid mildew and cat piss. I almost vomited the first time I opened the door from the top floor to the stairwell because the smell was so overwhelming.
Beautiful apartment in a very old, historic square right near the river and rue Colbert, a street full of great restaurants, bakeries, wine bars, and stores. We had an amazing 2 days at Catherine's. She was quick to respond via email and it was easy to coordinate our arrival and departure. Catherine's kindness was immediately obvious when she appeared with 3 stuffed animals, unexpectedly, to comfort and divert our son (8years) tired and sad after a long day of car travel. The rooms were comfortable and very quiet, and both parents and children slept extremely well. We look forward to returning: if we ever get the chance! Thank you Catherine!!!
Catherine's apartment is really a very lovely place to stay. It is very close to downtown Tours and sits right off of Rue Colbert, which has some fantastic restaurants. We went to one at Catherine's recommendation, and we were not disappointed. The apartment is a very, very old house, and it has all the charm to go with it. The three rooms upstairs are spacious and very comfortable. Being able to speak French is great here, because Catherine didn't speak much English but is a truly lovely person with whom I would have loved to had more time to chat. If you have a car, there is enough parking around that you should be fine. Overall, I highly recommend staying with Catherine, especially if you want a true regional experience!
Catherine fue una gran huésped. Puntual y con una buena comunicación en todo momento. Dejó el apartamento limpio. 100% recomendable.
Catherine´s family are lovely. They were in our apartment for four days in October and was really great to meet them. All the family were very respectful with our apartment. On departure they left the apartment clean and tidy so they are a recommended guests 100%.
Catherine and her family are very nice people and polite
