"Our twin room on the ground floor was basic, but serviceable with ensuite toilet/washbasin. A more substantial bathroom with shower was just across the corridor. Lizzie kindly put an electric heater in our room in case we felt chilly later after the heating went off.
We would definitely advise bringing a torch. The 10 minute walk back into the village in the dark seemed longer because for the first half of the trip there is no street lighting of any kind and no pavement!
Breakfast was quite simple – good quality brown bread or scones with butter and jam and coffee or tea. Previous stays at B&B's in the area for the same price have always included a cooked breakfast which sets one up for the day. Overall, a pleasant but basic B&B experience. It served our purpose perfectly well for a one night stay."
A very nice, quiet stay (Thank you Lizzie, we never got to say goodbye!) A large, comfortable room and although remote, the location only really just a short stroll from the village. And every morning, a nice cup of tea and some fresh scones and brown bread. It's all we wanted, just the peace - and a proper, quiet comfortable base upon returning from our various adventures in the area!
Lizzie was very welcoming and offered a cuppa upon arrival. Due to a cancellation she kindly upgraded me to the double room at no additional charge. Large comfortable double room, upstairs with WC and shower seperate but right next to the room. Light breakfast of tea/coffee, bread/toast & marmalade, oatmeal. Use of kitchen should you want to make yourself a sandwich to take on your travels. Great location, just about an 8 min walk, along a country road (pathway most of the way but not entirely). I recommend bringing a flash light to light your way but more importantly to make yourself visible to oncoming vehicles.
We stayed one night with a family with two children. When we arrived there was nobody home but the door was open and after a phone call to Lizzie we could go in and settle ourselves. The bedrooms were all right, we all slept well. The bedroom upstairs was large, the one downstairs was smaller. The bathroom we used upstairs was small. If you are tall you can't really move around well. Lizzie gave some advice about things to do. The breakfast was basic. It was really quiet (which we liked) and there's a huge garden around the house where our sons could run around. For us it was o.k. for one night.
I enjoyed my overnight at Lizzie's home. My wife & I arrived late and left mid-morning after a breakfast of coffee, toast, cheese and ham. The house was very neat, secure parking, beautiful gardens, a rural location on the edge of the town. A second night when we were less rushed would have been very enjoyable. Another time! The Airbnb listing and photograph were accurate.
Très bon accueil de la part de Lizzie
We booked into Lizzie's house because it looked really nice but also because of it's great location. Her home is a very easy walk into the lovely village of Ballydehob. Lizzie was fantastic in her communication prior to our arriving and we were really delighted to have met her as she is a really warm and welcoming person. Our room was very spacious and glorious views out to her beautiful property and beyond. The bathroom was next door to our room and the shower was fantastic. Lizzie offered us the additional use of her downstairs bathroom which she said was even better being solar powered! Our double bed was really comfortable and we slept so well. Lizzie gave us a lovely breakfast each morning which we were not expecting. Her cafetiere coffee and McCambridge's whole grain bread were absolutely scrumptious. Oh yeah and the marmalade, super duper! We came to the area to view houses as we are moving to West Cork and Lizzie was so helpful and kind and gave us lots of great information about the area. I would highly recommend staying at Lizzie's house and if you do there is a really great whole foods shop in the town that makes really nice food to eat in or take away, a gourmet shop that serves a lovely lunch as well as Antonio's Italian Restaurant where the pizza was just lovely. Oh and the gelato imported from Italy, can't wait to get some more!
